DA and ECNL doesn't apply to this because PWSI isnt in either. Maybe VDA but thats seperate right now comment was towards the team of the future which in this case is in VPL 08. Nice try tho |
Ooooohhhhhh. In that case, it’s a good team. Good coach. Good club. But in Woodbridge. |
| Beware of the teams filled with early developers. |
I think it’s pronounced L-O-U-D-O-N. |
It’s always the big Clubs. This is why many big clubs have teams that tend to drop in wins and no longer dominate around 5th/6th grade and beyond. |
| ^^^ Just keep in mind this board is filled with parents with an agenda. If someone is talking bad about Loudoun they are FCV parents. This is a good way for you to see the type of parents these clubs attract. |
You have to look at the clubs second teams. Do they keep girls on their second team who have skills that will translate to u13 and beyond? Do those girls stay or leave because they see no future at the club where the girls ahead of them are just big and fast(no touch, Soccer IQ or technical skill)? Let’s face it most fast big u11 players will not seems big and fast if dropped on a u14 team. It is interesting to see the development of these kids, they tend develop what works for them. Fast kid uses speed, technical kid uses technique, physical kid use that, etc. I guess it’s hard to develop different parts of your game under pressure because if you do not get results you could be moved down? |

Agree with one of the posters above. You can't gauge the quality of a club by one set of tournament results, especially Jeff Cup. That tournament attracts some of the best teams in the country. It looks like Arlington lost 2-1 to FCNC, which is probably the best club in North Carolina, and lost 2-0 to Nationals Oakland, which is a very good DA club that starts travel at U6. Someone was saying that one of Arlington girls suffered a broken arm in that game, so I wouldn't be surprised if that shook up the team. Looks like they lost the next morning to Pipeline 3-2, which is one of the better teams in the region. Everyone should realize that these are 10-11 year old girls and even the best coached team with the most talented players is going to be far from consistent because they are 11 years old. It is hard to tell from just a score line, but Arlington appears to have been very competitive in every game they played.
Loudon did well in ASIST and won two matches at Jeff Cup before losing 3-1 to Richmond. They are a well coached team with a lot of talented players. They don't use a dedicated keeper, and emphasize ball movement and total player development. But, if you want to see the folly in using tournament results, look at some of the other results from the same bracket: South Shore lost to the Dallas Texans 8-0. South Shore then beat Pipeline 1-0. Based on that, you would think that Pipeline would struggle to score at all, and that South Shore would blow Pipeline away. Instead, it was Dallas 5 and Pipeline 3. What does this tell us about each team? Probably that South Shore had a nightmare first game, and that all three of these teams are very good. It doesn't tell us much about how they play or the quality of the coaching. They are 11-year old girls; literally nothing about them is consistent.... I had one, and trust me they can be sweet, earnest, dedicated players, and they can also be nightmares of attitude, eye-rollin', "DAAAAD" in response to anything you say positive or negative. Their hormones are changing, their bodies are changing. Some of them are 5'11" and 125 and some are 4'0" and 55. The only thing that is certain is they will all be different in two years, but they will also be different in two months, two weeks, two months, etc. You can't go wrong with either club, but I wouldn't dream of making that decision based on the results of two tournaments over a one week span. It's far more important when evaluating the club to make sure your kid would be a good fit for the team, the club, the parents and the coach. You have to spend too much time in travel soccer to not be happy with each one of those.... |
Just a note at ASIST London ties the bracket with BSC. The Loudon BSC game was the last bracket game on Sunday. They were completely tied to like the six tie breaker so they did penalty kicks/shots from the mark to determine the winner. Loudon won after a lot of shots. Arlington had the following results in their bracket 4-0 BRYC ELITE ACADEMY 4-1 BALTIMORE CELTIC SC THUNDER 5-0 MARYLAND UNITED FC 2008 RED Loudon bracket result 3-2(shoot out win)BETHESDA SC ACADEMY BLUE 08 2-2 VSA 08G PRE ACADEMY NPL 3-2 SYA CARDINALS 08G RED |
| And who won that Final between Loudoun and Arlington? |
| Didn't Loudoun's top scorer from last season move over to Arlington? |
Are you advocating that the OP chose a team for his daughter based on the result of one game? |
How do you get that from what he or she wrote? |
The OP's initial post seeks information about Loudon/Arlington's 2008 Girls teams. Why would anyone ask who won the final --when OP's first post states that Loudon won -- except to advocate that Loudon is a better choice or a better team based on the results of their mutual game? |
| Based on the back and forth between these 2 groups of parents, I’d go elsewhere. |
