Not the pp but really? It does not really take more than a few minutes observing Arlington players to know they are not a skilled based team. There are like three field players who are okay. Two have size and athleticism but still need to develop foot skills. The third has some pretty good skills but gets lost in Arlington’s style of play. The rest you can have. Did Arlington just lose to Stoddert? Loudoun beat them what 5-1? You best hope you do not get put in to a top flight at a big tournament. Those teams have moved way beyond Arlington.

Look the team was a good u11 team but things have changed. I would worry if your kid is not in the top three. Arlington will make changes. I bet the TD is already evaluating everyone(coach and all the players) on that team.

Word is that Arlington has been bringing in TD and other coaches to try and turn things around because current coach is clueless. Talk about a team in crisis - can't win more than a game at a tournament, loses to Stoddert, and coach now has to be coached. Meanwhile next week, they are set up to be beaten by Loudoun and probably a Pitt team that isn't in the top 1000 in the country... Don't be surprised if everyone from the team - players and coach is gone next year. Best will leave for a functioning program, and the others will be demoted as Arlington tries a hard reset after a disastrous season.

At least a couple of their players have contacted - and even practiced with - other pre DA/ECNL clubs and we aren’t even out of October.

This is not true. Someone wants to switch their DD to Arlington 2008 DA next year and so they are trying to get current players to leave. Current parents and players are happy.

This is someone who is either not on the team or is naive. My DD plays for the Blue team, but has a number of friends on the Red team, and we are friends with a number of the parents. The 08 Red girls are very unhappy, and while there are a few parents who are not unhappy, the vast majority can't stand the coach. It shouldn't be a great surprise to anyone. The team went from winning tournaments to not winning a single game in a lower bracket...

Where are all of these Arlington Red girls going to go next year? Give up playing on a DA team close to home to play for another mediocre team further away? McLean lost girls from their green team to Arlington last year so it doesn't appear that will be a better option. That team isn't winning against quality competition either. BRYC is losing even more than Arlington. Metro probably won't even have a DA team at U13. Currently the best 2008 team in NOVA is Loudoun but that would be quite a haul from Arlington. And will they be able to keep their players or will they lose them to FCV next year and end up being mediocre too. There just aren't any really great 2008 teams out there. I've got a 2008 and unless some of these teams drop out of ECNL/DA and those top players change teams the talent is just too diluted.

lets breath for a second.

VSA is going to be the next best thing and help VDA to become a elite team. PWSI is a close second I wish we can make bets and I tell you VDA will be a top team in the nation

annoyed parent here. Bethesda flights seem to be out but its seems Herndon 2008 girls are
on the second flight? why is that? They won the Virginian and did pretty good in Discovery beating (team of the future) PWSI.

You cannot beat the team of future since we are not in the future yet.

another view, just because your team won 3 out of 9 CCL games, you want to be on the top flight? Discovery and Virginia are both inferior to OBGC and Columbia.. we all know it.

What did PWSI do to you? You write this every few days.

MD United walked all over them at Discovery. That's another kickball team with a small and weak midfield.

BSC u12s are not doing too well and they are driving 2-4 hours(from Bethesda) for league away games- like outside of NYC and northern New Jersey. I can see BSC kids leaving. That’s your whole weekend in a car for one games. Also BSC can have practices in northern Montgomery County.

It is beyond stupid that the pre ecnl splits the DMV in 1/2 and send BSC that far to play one game. BSC should just do what they did for U12 boys. When DA stopped for the u12 boys, they were worried about getting competitive games. So BSC, Arlington and a bunch of other clubs put their boys in the EDP u12.

ast Brunswick, NJ (May 7, 2019) —To replace the competition achieved during the past few years with the U12 Division of the US Soccer Development Academy League, six clubs in the Mid-Atlantic area have gotten together to form a U12 Atlantic Development Player EDP Conference. This conference will give these clubs a chance to participate in developmentally-appropriate competition that is virtually identical to what these clubs experienced when US Soccer ran a national U12 DA program. The following clubs – who participated in this season’s U12 US Development Academy League -- have committed to playing in this EDP Mid-Atlantic DA club conference for 2019-20:

Arlington Soccer Association (VA)
Baltimore Armour (MD)
Bethesda Soccer Club (MD)
Loudoun Soccer Club (VA)
PA Classics (PAE)
Richmond United (VA)

https://www.edpsoccer.com/news_article/show/1020031

Guess Arlington thought the CCL was poor competition for their pre DA boys ....not so for their pre DA girls u12? What’s that about Arlington parents? Wouldn’t you want to play those teams vs the CCL schedule?

They are not going anywhere. The word is all the red team will make DA next year. There will be no changes unless a kid who is really good(fast and big) comes from outside the club. This has been passed down informally by Arlington’s staff. You really think parents would leave a sure thing?

Nothing is a sure thing in travel soccer. Only a fool would take a Club’s word. I’ve seen that played out over and over—-trusting parents/players with such loyalty only to get bamboozled in the 11th hour with nothing in their back pocket and nowhere else to go.

In other words—they are smart to look around.

The word? From whom? And you ask who would pass up a sure thing? Let's be clear about this. Why on earth would you want your kid to stay at a club where players have tenure? You want either new players or the threat of new players to motivate your players, and if those players do not face challenges and competition, they are not going to improve as much as programs where there is selection based on merit. Simply promoting a club's first team to DA is pretty much the opposite of merit given how much talent is dispersed throughout the region. But I do think there are a number of parents on the boys side who view the DA as a continuation of Arlington's first team, although all evidence is to the contrary. Those coaches will generally select the best players, and if they are not doing it that way, you don't want your kid there. If all they are doing is moving the red team to the DA, why the hell call it DA? If DAs are doing this on the women's side, it is no wonder people think it is a joke. Sure thing? The only sure thing about that would be mediocrity that will be quickly exposed against more competitive, open clubs.

And will they be able to keep their players or will they lose them to FCV next year and end up being mediocre too. There just aren't any really great 2008 teams out there. I've got a 2008 and unless some of these teams drop out of ECNL/DA and those top players change teams the talent is just too diluted.

They are not going anywhere. The word is all the red team will make DA next year. There will be no changes unless a kid who is really good(fast and big) comes from outside the club. This has been passed down informally by Arlington’s staff. You really think parents would leave a sure thing?

The word?

^ Team chemistry and consistency beats talent any day. You can have a team of “superstars” but when kids don’t get along , too stressed, and the team lacks trust, things begin to fall apart. It’s everyone’s job to keep each other motivated . You win as a team and you lose as a team. Develop who you have. Success comes when you least expect it.

But, your comments on which players are skilled in Arlington are laughable . .

From experience, I would say Arlington looks to replace the bottom 5. And if you go to any DA meeting they hold, the coaches will absolutely tell you that not all players are going to be DA material.
