This is the correct answer. Coaching can work small miracles but without talent everything else is all uphill. Of course talent ID is a major portion of coaching. |
Good grief people. They've said what they are doing. They are staying the course and trying to make it better. FCV is already having ID sessions. So is BRYC. There is not a merger afoot. Stop trying to create one. This was covered painfully for pages and pages already with all the conspiracy FCV dads saying FCV was taking over the world. Give it a rest. Other than the Spirit players and parents, why does anyone care anyway? |

Spirit VA added a number of players from Mclean in the 05 age group last season. Not sure what happened with the 05 Mclean ECNL team but a decent amount of players moved to Spirit VA. That made the 05 Spirit team more competitive this past fall. Mclean’s 05 ECNL team still
had success on the field this fall. Similarly, the Mclean 06 girls struggled in ECNL play this fall. They have a big roster (over 18 players). I suspect that this Mclean 06 team will lose some players due to the challenges they have faced. Cyndi Harkes left Mclean this spring so perhaps some additional shake up with their 05 girls as well. Clyde has both the 04s and 05s there. I agree with some other posters—WS VA will see an influx of ‘disgruntled talent’ from players on other clubs who have fallen out of favor with their current coaches (or just aren’t getting the playing time either they (or their parents) desire.) Arlington DA will continue to improve as they have the pipeline of talent due to the size of their club. Mclean older ages (01, 02) will continue to be the cream of the crop but Mclean’s Younger ages (06 and 05) will continue to struggle. |
| Spirit parents you don't want a merger with a BRYC or FCV or McLean, the reality is unless you're kid is 1-4 on the roster they would get replaced. |

Clyde Watson used to coach Freedom at the SoccerPlex.
His salary is posted online at his current club. Could Spirit Org. make him an offer he couldn't refuse and attract local talent to the Academy? Pie in the sky, as he is Mr. ECNL, at least right now. |
Not that the statement is entirely wrong but the unlikely nature of a merger happening means that the post is just unnecessary trolling. |
You’re crazy and clearly know nothing about WS. This whole thread is full of comments by people who don’t know what they’re talking about. Stop criticizing WS and comparing them to other clubs and focus on where your kid is playing. McLean older ages are good b/c they steal talent from other clubs with the ECNL draw. They don’t develop their own talent- that’s why the younger ages aren’t good. The 05 team is doing well this year mainly b/c so many kids left ECNL for DA. BRYC 05 team is a complete disaster. FCV isn’t teaching skill based play, they’re creating robots who do what they’re told. Let WS keep their word and focus on building the club. Give them a minute. Sheesh. If your kid isn’t there, move on and talk about something else. This is ridiculous. |
| they can magically develop youth national team caliber players themselves instead of rely on kids joining from other teams |
| Why not? That's what FCV does. |
| Did PP argue that McLean 05 is having success because players left McLean for the DA? |
| None of you people seem to know anyone in the 05 land. Or why people move teams, people, are personal decisions based on location, their child’s happiness, friends, family schedules and their own family goals. All of this balone6 you are takk8n* about has no bearing on wh6 any9ne I know has moved from Econ to da or doom da to da or from da to echo, |
You really don't see the contradiction in those two sentences, do you. |
You know a thread has run its course when the language in posts devolves to this extent. Not to mention the arguments and counter-arguments being made. Though, if I’m interpreting correctly, this one seems to make a lot more sense than most of the other post Spirit non-dissolution meltdown messages from the WS hater crowd |
I'll have what hes having..lmfao |
| Ah, the 05 land. Are they even playing full field at that stage? |
