Not true. My son is new to PAC and got an offer and I known of at least 3 other new players who've received offers as well this week. |
There was a mass exodus from Bethesda South last year, I thought. Mostly 2006 boys? Am I remembering that incorrectly?
|
agree. PAC did get some new offers out already b/c they knew kids would want to hear sooner vs later. |
Do you know if PAC will make more offers? My DC has been trying out, but didn't get an offer. I thought I heard even if they don't offer your kid a spot on the team, they can still train with the team? |
They might not be done. We're a returning family, and we didn't get our offer until Tuesday. As good as the training is, I'm not sure I'd recommend going to PAC just to train and not play. Maybe if you're also playing rec league so you can get a few games in. (You can't play rec league elsewhere and play travel at PAC, of course, but if you're just *training* at PAC and not officially rostered to a team, I can't imagine you'd be barred from playing rec league.) |
Last year they had 2 very strong 06 teams. Do you mean that they are leaving this year? I haven't heard anything but may be interesting to see where they go if true? Any word on Joga? How many teams were they able to form? |
You are remembering incorrectly. Fall 2016 was the initial season for Bethesda South 2006. Three kids left at the end of the fall season for various reasons, but it wasn't a mass exodus. Blue Team was a finalist at Alexandria this spring in top flight and played in the top bracket at EDP Cup with good results, so the spring was pretty successful. A few kids are leaving now at the end of the season to go to DA Clubs, but most of the team is staying intact. Some additional strong players are coming in. The team may not be the powerhouse it was in fall, but coaching is outstanding and the team will play fast and the kids will develop. It is a great place for a player who wants to get better and play at a high level. |
How about their 05? |
I thought Bethesda was a DA club? |
Bethesda is a DA club. The topic is about Bethesda-South which trains in the Great Falls/Tyson's area. They do not have a 05 team. |
true - at some age groups they are still sorting out how many teams they are going to have. I can't speak to specific age groups and your individual situation though. In terms of training - yes you can train with them regardless of whether you play on a team. I am not sure why your child could not also play on a rec team? You would have to investigate the rules for your rec club specifically to determine if they permit travel players and how many. I know Arlington Rec does allow a few travel players per rec team (the number varies by age). |
So quick question, I understand that the coach is leaving after this upcoming season. What happens to Bethesda South afterwards? |
Where is he going? |
I'm not sure bu my guess would be that his son would join a DA. His older son plays for Bethesda DA. I guess he'd try to get some work there. Just speculation though. |
