Fetterman - Oz Debate — anyone keeping tabs on this?

Considering that Pennsylvania and Pennsylvanians are known for being the people who pick themselves up after being knocked down, the underdogs who never give up, it’s not hard to see why this strategy would backfire. If Oz was actually a Pennsylvanian or spent any time in the state, he’d understand that.

Let's never forget that he was expressing empathy by relating how difficult it was to put together his wife's crudite.

Gritty has a crudite plate. It's mostly knocked-out teeth.

Trump is blaming Melania for him endorsing Oz.

Trump is a real piece of work. I hope the money is worth it for Melania.

Huh? Does Melania even know who Oz is? What a POS. Takes credit for wins and blames others for losses.

She probably watched his TV show. Then when he started to push the H-drug as a Covid treatment, she probably brought his name up to Trump as a potential candidate. Since NJ wasn't on the Senate ballot this year, they had to find another state to run him in. And, lo and behold, he went to medical school in PA and his in-laws still lived there. Cue the drive to have him declare his in-laws house as his residence to qualify him to run. And the rest is history, like the Titanic.

Shut it. You and your fake doctor lost. He can go back to Turkey.

Our PA relatives were keeping track. Oz is a real doctor but only a Pennsylvanian by the letter of the law not the spirit of the law. He has PA residency since 2020 via a house in Bryn Athyn owned by the wife's parents. Besides the not really from PA and the Trump was the fact that to many people the dual citizenship demonstrates a less than 100% committment to the USA.

Yes, he once was a respected cardiothoracic surgeon with many accolades and acknowledgements (including patents for heart saving devices and surgical techniques). But he gave that up more than 10 years ago and has barely been a practicing heart surgeon. Instead, he became a Hollywood celebrity more focused on making a buck than on actually relying on medical acumen. He promoted snake oil weight loss gimmicks, promised a homeopathic cure for the common cold and then the completely unsupported H-drug for Covid treatment. By 2018, a group of doctors asked Columbia University to remove him from the faculty of Columbia because of his lack of medical ethics and his disdain for trusted medical practices and evidence-based science. He appeared before a Senate panel questioning his medical ethics. He refused to answer whether he lied about the medicines that he hawked and make millions of dollars off of his credulous audience.

This man should have his medical license revoked as he has clearly abused the Hippocratic Oath that he swore.

He is no longer a real doctor; he only plays one on TV.

Anyone who survives medical school and surgical residency and spends decades saving lives gets to be a real doctor for the rest of their lives IMO. Your comment is the kind made by somebody who works in a cubicle and has very little experience with the real world.

So the panel of his peers that requested Columbia University remove him from the faculty are cubicle workers with little experience in the real world? These were also very successful doctors who were faculty at Columbia University and petitioned the university board to remove him. I'm with them. He started out a star and ended up being a stain on Columbia University's medical faculty.

Columbia?

A stroke, sometimes called a brain attack, occurs when something blocks blood supply to part of the brain or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. In either case, parts of the brain become damaged or die. A stroke can cause lasting brain damage, long-term disability, or even death

Worse, the blood clot came from his heart. Good chance of death, further damage in the next 5 years

Actually, I heard this months ago. Apparently she has been a fan of Oz for years. But also Trump could kind of identify with him because they both had TV shows.

What do you base that on?

Most people with a-fib who have a stroke never have a second one, and if they do, it's usually within the first 3 months after the first. His stroke was in May.

This is what his own cardiologist says:

“The prognosis I can give for John’s heart is this: If he takes his medications, eats healthy and exercises, he’ll be fine,” Chandra wrote. “If he does what I’ve told him, and I do believe that he is taking his recovery and his health very seriously this time, he should be able to campaign and serve in the U.S. Senate without a problem.”

It’s funny because Oz’s primary opponent McCormick is married to former Trump staffer Dina Powell. They had been visiting Mar a Lago excessively to lobby Trump for his endorsement. McCormick might have had a better shot because he didn’t have the carpetbagger tag.

I'm pretty sure Pennsylvania wasn't the best state to choose to come into and try to pass yourself off as one of the people. That just never was going to go all that well.

My father’s cardiologist. My dad’s stroke came from the carotid. They periodically clean out that artery. My mother’s recent minor stroke came from a widowmaker that should have killed her. Much more dangerous and much higher likelihood of a repeat.

Makes total sense. Maybe the political reporters should talk to the sports reporters. Anyone following the Phillies and their fanbase this year could have seen this a thousand miles away.
