It’s all a pretext. The bar will always be raised and raised and raised because historically, that’s what we do in this country to black people. They always need to take just one more step before they can be treated with respect.

Sure. That makes perfect sense. Especially since everyone has said, repeatedly, that the n-word is unacceptable, no matter who says it.

The fact that this is so complicated for you is so revealing. You just cannot handle the “unfairness” of not being able to say a word without policing Black people’s use of it.

Pathetic.

It must be difficult being so simple. Not one person has said they have any desire to use your favorite slur. It’s so bizarre that you think anyone is desperate to speak trash.

Sheesh, I cannot imagine how frustrating it must be to be this angry about white people dealing with consequences for their actions. Life must have been like a warm cocoon up until this point.

Frankly NYT did not do a good enough reporting job to be able to state that accurately or not. They don’t even mention reaching out to LCPS or Heritage HS for a response let alone have interviewed any other kids. The impression of them is just from what the boy said and things way in the past (fighting desegregation).

The gym class example is bad but I think when WaPo reported on that LCPS said the teacher was wrong and reprimanded for it or something along those lines. NYT seems to have phoned in the coverage of the HS situation despite going out of their way to try to make this a bigger dynamic about what Heritage is like. (No, I have no connection to the school. My kids are in FCPS).

Totally agree, and my kids are in FCPS too. The entire slant of the article was clearly to portray Heritage High - and LCPS in general - as horribly racist. That’s simply not the case. Teenagers across the entire country use the vile n-word casually, every day. Why? Because it’s in the rap music they all listen to. Yet the SJWs refuse to demand that rappers stop using the n-word. That would be an excellent first step if we want to eradicate this word.

If you feel so strongly about this, attach your name and face for credibility reasons to a campaign to allow you to use the word, that it’s UNFAIR for African Americans to say it, but white people cannot.

You are talking gibberish. I have no desire to say that word and I seriously hope my kids don’t either. However, because I live here on planet Earth, I understand that kids often do exactly the opposite of what their parents want. It’s completely unsurprising that teens would use the n-word when they hear it all the time in the music they listen to. Which is why it’s astonishing that the black community hasn’t campaigned against rappers using this word. If it’s that offensive, then no one should be saying it.

Why aren’t you campaigning against rappers using that word? You know, in real life instead of anonymously on this website?

Are you joking? The black community needs to speak up about it. We can see just from this thread how well it would go over if white people publicly condemned rappers for using the n-word. Why hasn’t the black community put a stop to it? Ironic that rappers are millionaires in large part because of white teens buying their music and concert tickets.

Why do you think “the black community” needs to speak out? Why not you? What are you afraid of if you’re so right? Cant you stand up for your beliefs? You sound so cowardly. 🐈

Goodnight, Jimmy. Get some sleep - you’ll need energy to keep fighting the good fight. So many people to expose, so little time! Best of luck.

I’m sorry you have so much fear and hatred towards other people. I hope you find some peace since you are pretty troubled, and so desperate for a comeback you stole one from the Hilaria thread. Here’s a pity applause: 👏👏👏

Who is Hilaria? Speaking of troubled, now you’re introducing your imaginary friend. Anyhow, you seem to know all about fear and hatred. Your defense of a kid who is full of fear and hatred speaks volumes. Night, Jimmy.

Bye! 👋

I’m sure you have a full day of resenting black and brown people ahead of you.

You are so original! And the hand emojis are too cute. Look, I can do one too! 🖖 Live long and prosper.

Can’t wait until your kid has to “deal with consequences”. Let’s hope s/he never does something stupid as a 15 yr. old! I’d really hate for that to go public and result in his/her college acceptance being rescinded.

Since my children are brown, they will deal with consequences whether I like it or not and half of Loudoun county will not be coming to their defense.

I’m sure your concern for their welfare is genuine. I’m not worried since amazingly, I went through my entire teen years without using the n word or doing anything similarly awful. I was just a nice kid. I guess it wasn’t the same for you? Maybe my parents should write a book!

May I ask what you mean when you say “brown”?

If you’re desi I’m going to be so diverted. Please tell your name is Roy or Sharma or Iyer, just for the cherry on top.

NO ONE here has campaigned for the right to use that word. We ALL agree it should not be said.

Some of us think no one should say it. Others think just white people should not say it.
Some of us recognize that part of the reason kids say the slang version of this word - even though they should not!! - is because it is pretty widely used in popular music and some movies so the slang version of it does not seem as taboo to them as it should.
Some of us also recognize the kids do dumb stuff - even stuff their parents tell them not to do! - and that doing one dumb thing without hatred should not be cause for cancelling them.

You must have missed some posts and deleted posts. There were several posts claiming if rappers use the word then it’s fine to use. Posters claimed that since Mimi didn’t mean it to be derogatory then she was fine to use it. Someone even posted that they would happily use the word.

I’ve read most of the thread.
The posts about rappers I saw mostly were pointing out the hypocrisy of them using it regularly and thereby influencing what kids soak up, but it being WW3 if a white kid mimics that.

The vast majority of posters defending mini have said she should not have said it but also pointed out she did not call a person the N word and her punishment is wildly disproportionate to her intent/“crime.

I did not see any poster say they would happily use it but perhaps those were deleted. Definitely they were the exception though compared to virtually everyone else agreeing it should not be used - but disagreeing about whether the consequences fit the situation here.

Did anyone actually say that the consequences fit the crime?

I didn’t see any posts saying the consequences fit the crime. Where are they? There is a consensus the university is probably doing this as a CYA exercise or to prevent further scrutiny.

There are posters saying that sometimes people face consequences disproportionate to their actions, and that it is not, in fact, the end of the world. Poor people and black people face consequences disproportionate to their actions all the time, and no one on this forum seems so frantic about that. There are posters who seem pretty thirsty for Jimmy’s blood who don’t seem to recognize that he grew up in a hostile environment and should have some empathy too.

That’s it.

First they’re going to say it needs to be banned from rap lyrics, then they’ll say it needs to be banned from black people’s private conversations, and then they’ll say their kids heard it in a 7-eleven when they were 6.

What will be the title of your parents book?

I recommend you keep your day job- publishing isn’t for you. 😂🤣😂
