Well, thank you SCOTUS… https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/19/politics/trump-supreme-court-immunity/index.html CNN — President Donald Trump has expounded an extraordinary vision of his authority over the past month, relying on the Supreme Court’s decision last year granting him immunity from criminal prosecution as a blank check in his broader drive for power. |
I don’t think that’s the problem. Elected officials are continuously seeking to appease their radical bases after election rather than govern where the American people are. And the voters keep finding themselves sloshing back and forth in the bath tub. |
Yikes! That’s Carter territory. |
According to many approval measures, Carter was even less popular than Trump and Biden which is hard to believe but it is what it is. Those are by far the bottom three. Good times! |
The answer is: - ranked choice voting - mandatory publicly financed campaigns This is what we need to spend our time and effort on achieving. Anything less will lead to this same situation over and over again. |
Eliminate the electoral college too. |
As long as bought and paid for Republican and Democratic politicians are running the show in Washington, RCV and campaign finance reform will never happen. The only way to bring about such change is for everyone to stop voting for Republicans and Democrats and we all know the American people lack the courage and resolve to stop voting for their cult leaders. |
Since we're naming pipe dreams, reduce the power of the US Senate. WY has 80 times the power that CA does. Absurd. |
This is all Off topic for this thread, but Adopting the "Wyoming Rule" and expanding the size of the House would help. The senate is meant to be like the House of Lords, while the House is meant to be like the house of Commons, but when the size of the House was capped, the skew began. and this skew is relfected in both the House and the Electoral College. |
I would take either one over the current communist. |
Me too. At least Carter was a decent and noble statesman who could string together a few coherent sentences. |
Trump continues to sink to new depths.
When will he implode under the pressure? https://www.pennlive.com/news/2025/04/donald-trump-just-got-the-worst-set-of-polling-data-of-his-entire-presidency.html |
Trump's approval ratings plummeted during his 1st term and there was never an implosion. His unpopularity allowed the Dems to take control of The House in 2018 and allowed for a very easy victory for the Dems in the 2020 POTUS election. Dems can thank Trump again for the success they'll have in 2026 and 2028. Hmmm... I'm noticing a pattern.... it appears as though terrible sitting presidents make success easy to come by for the opposition party. We suffered through this with Biden in 2024 so we deserve to the political success that will inevitably come while having to endure the nightmarish Trump 2nd term. |
There should be a way for us to have a vote of no confidence for a serving president , to boot out someone as corrupt and incompetent as Trump. |
No normal person would say the US suffered while Biden was in office. Everyone wants him back. |
