Wow! Trump is down in polls re the economy and now he is down re immigration and deportations. This is going to hurt him and is really going to hurt the Republicans in the midterms. They are working furiously to get their tax cuts locked in for FY26 (Will the moderates agree to cut Medicaid? Who knows?), as they also work furiously to slash the federal government, spiking unemployment and decimating services. And now their leader is underwater everywhere. Woe to the Republicans. They are in a sad place right now.

Yep, the two issues that he has traditionally been strongest in and he’s underwater on both. People are getting very angry.

Doesn't matter, he's still getting away with absolutely everything he wants to. Mid terms- hahaahaha- we are barely 4 months into this nightmare and have a long long time for him to continue to make irreversible damage before any midterms. No one is standing up to him, no one. But sure... go ahead and think polls and midterms are going to cause GOP to grow a spine.

I don’t think that’s the problem. Elected officials are continuously seeking to appease their radical bases after election rather than govern where the American people are. And the voters keep finding themselves sloshing back and forth in the bath tub.

According to many approval measures, Carter was even less popular than Trump and Biden which is hard to believe but it is what it is. Those are by far the bottom three. Good times!

As long as bought and paid for Republican and Democratic politicians are running the show in Washington, RCV and campaign finance reform will never happen. The only way to bring about such change is for everyone to stop voting for Republicans and Democrats and we all know the American people lack the courage and resolve to stop voting for their cult leaders.

This is all Off topic for this thread, but Adopting the "Wyoming Rule" and expanding the size of the House would help. The senate is meant to be like the House of Lords, while the House is meant to be like the house of Commons, but when the size of the House was capped, the skew began. and this skew is relfected in both the House and the Electoral College.

Trump's approval ratings plummeted during his 1st term and there was never an implosion. His unpopularity allowed the Dems to take control of The House in 2018 and allowed for a very easy victory for the Dems in the 2020 POTUS election. Dems can thank Trump again for the success they'll have in 2026 and 2028.

Hmmm... I'm noticing a pattern.... it appears as though terrible sitting presidents make success easy to come by for the opposition party. We suffered through this with Biden in 2024 so we deserve to the political success that will inevitably come while having to endure the nightmarish Trump 2nd term.

No normal person would say the US suffered while Biden was in office. Everyone wants him back.
