Maximum impact diet/exercise plan in 3 months

Anonymous
Just found out I won a big trip to a beach locale with my colleagues in June. Have a 1 year old who finally sleeps through the night and I and just stopped nursing, so it's the perfect time for me to focus on my shape anyway. I'd like to use that motivator as a kickstart.

All I've had the energy for in the past year is ensuring I get 12,000-15,000 steps a day. That's the whole routine. No special diet or even tracking (though to lose weight dieting requires extreme rigor for me)

But I have 3 months...

What would you do in that time to make the most impact?

How much do you weigh now and how much do you want to lose?

My lowest ever adult weight was 150, and I'm 190 now. But 165 would feel great to me. Not necessarily before this vacation.

Focusing on the number on the scale makes me miserable at any size though.

I would join a gym and start a weight routine 2-3 times per week. You already have a great activity base with all that walking. You will see a huge difference from weight training. Most gyms will give you a free training session to get you started on a routine. It doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming. Focus on the biggest muscle groups. Lunges, squats, bench press— you’ll see a transformation in 3 months if you challenge yourself!

Congrats on your win! Honestly I would do (and have done) Weight Watchers. There are programs that might lose you more weight but theyre also harder to stick with. Losing 12-15 lbs in 3 months is very doable on WW, and it will stay off.
I should take my own advice, I have your same weight stats. I lost 40 lbs on WW and kept it off for 5 years before getting pregnant, and just haven't really tried after.

Alternative to Weight Watchers is something like Whole 30 and eliminating all processed foods.

Mediterranean diet like a normal person. If you have a 1 year old, you need to learn how to cook and eat normally every day, year in year out. Picture your child as a tween, teen, or adult asking for advice on a crash diet. What would you tell them.

Let's face it your expectations are unrealistic. You don't have to look amazing to enjoy your trip. You need to feel good and healthy.

OP. I totally get it. Ignore the people who just insist on raining on your motivation parade. If you wanted heathy, safe, and slow blablabla being a perfect eater I’m guessing that you wouldn’t be asking.

I am always able to drop a quick 10 or so with Intermittent fasting 2 days a week followed by reasonable light eating on the other days. Try to avoid simple carbs. They really are useless. I have had success with ultra low carb, but starting out is tough. Now Go out and Rock It!

I'm doing this right now with similar goals and timeline.

Trying what's worked for me in the past:

Entering everything I eat into My Fitness Pal. It really makes me stop mindless eating because entering the meals is kind of a pain (although gets easier as it "learns" your meals). Also, good for figuring out how many calories I have left by dinner time and pacing my eating during the day.

HIIT cardio twice a week.

Weight training (with a cardio warmup) twice a week.

No alcohol in the house. I drink a glass of wine once a week when out to eat.

Low calorie drinks when I'm feeling snacky. Coffee, spindrift sodas...

Limited carbs. Nothing white.

Walk, walk, walk... (you're off to a great start with that - impressive)

Sleep. I'm trying to get into bad earlier, so I cut back on sleepless nights that just make me more hungry.

Just cut pasta, rice and bread entirely from your diet.
Limit the sweets like a small scoop of ice cream to once a week.
No soda, especially diet.

With a one year year old, you need to keep this simple. This will make a difference.

Try Weight Watchers. I have lost 13 1/2 lbs so far and it’s only been a month. I dont feel deprived at all. Good luck!

1200 calories a day. Log everything you eat on My Fitness Pal.

You already have a ton of activity with all thr walking. Add in weights 3xs a week and tighten up your diet. By June you could EASILY be down to 165. When I really want to dig in, I drink meal replacement shakes at dinner and go to bed hungry. If I do that for a month 5 nights a week, my and will start to show. Yes. Abs.

I love Fitness Blender especially for weight training. I would never make it to the gym especially with the 2 kids in tow.

Good luck OP
