ECNL wants kids in their age groups but have advised its clubs to allow grade alignment if that means players have to play up. They don’t want kids the grade behind playing up if they are not a top 5 player on the older team. |
Right ... Will this impact college recruiting? The new two-year age group structure will not negatively impact college recruiting. College coaches evaluate players based on their performance, development, and potential—not the exact age grouping of their club team. https://www.eastsidefc.org/agegroups |
Where did ECNL advise clubs to have kids play up for grade? Podcasts have pushed age only. |
It's mr. trust me, bro, again. |
Biobanding kids would love to steal a player's spot who is 16 months younger. |
Anytime a player doesn't make a team OR reach a goal is an opportunity. |
What I was told by a ECNL club director who also has done private training with my daughter for years. No reason to lie to me. Not saying girls will be forced out of the Aug-July age groups but said ECNL does not want teams fighting the change. Again ECNL will not force anything but sent out email and have had zoom meetings with club directors about how they ideally want things to go. |
So, share the email. |
Your original wording was confusing. I made edits to match the podcasts. Would you agree or disagree that the below is what you were trying to write? ECNL wants kids in their age groups, meaning it wants almost all Aug through December births to drop down an age group under SY. However, it advised clubs to allow players the option to play up with their grade if they are misaligned. They don’t want kids not misaligned playing up if they are not a top 5 player on the older team. |
So desperate to maintain the narrative in your head that you're now trying to reword what people said. Reality is coming |
And this is exactly why all top team players will be rhe same graduating year. What mr age doesnt understand is that when players get older plastic trophies no longer matter and it all becomes working to get recruited to play in college. Which translates to playing on the correct grade in school team which makes being identified by college coaches 1000% easier than if you're misaligned.

Reality is ECNL said they don't want clubs fighting the change, get players on age, but best can play up. Clubs took this advice with their age group announcements. It's over, nobody in DMV forced to go grade year. |
This is exactly what age guy doesn't want to hear. Hahahaha so much time wasted trying to @utisticly fight against what everyone is telling him will happen. |
You keep conflating youth soccer trying to get Aug-Dec Dec kids on the correct age group with your desire for youth soccer to force grade year (which they aren't doing and haven't been considering.) Fighting the change would be having a bunch of kids play up. ECNL wants players on age unless you can be top 5 next age group up. They aren't trying to address grade, they are trying to address clubs not pushing Aug-Dec down an age group. People are often resistant to change, clubs have to deal with this, and they have made their positions transparent in their age group websites. |
| Sorry Mr. Aug guy. B team misaligned players are practicing with the younger team. You're in denial. That's the reality. |
