Guess what comes in last? Keto. And all the other low-carb variations also at the bottom of the list.

It's fine for a crash diet to lose a handful of pounds before a big event - but not for the long term. It's not sustainable, and the VAST majority of people gain it back, plus some. You would also have to be a complete moron to think that a sweet potato is worse for you than perdue chicken breast.

Guess what does work? Eating nutritious carbs. Fruits, vegetables, wholesome grains, beans, seeds, nuts, a little bit of meat, some oil, and other animal products in moderation.

Completely agree! I just lost 60 lbs eating plenty of "good" carbs. I eat a ton of fruit, love my sweet potatoes and nuts. Everything in moderation people.

Eh...the Dash diet is anything but sustainable, and most medical people still focus on low fat. It’s not really accurate.

Pffft...USN.

We all know that those diets just game the system and play with the numbers to increase their yields.

HIGH FIVE!

I also lost 60ish pounds (and maintained it easily) eating lots of good carbs, including abundant fruit. Eat your fruits and veggies, move more, and everything else here and there is fine. You don't need a diet.

It is absolutely accurate. What they mean by low fat is eat a chicken breast instead of a pork chop. Use olive oil instead of butter. Eat 2% yogurt instead of full fat. Fat is not bad, but the kind of fat you eat absolutely matters. All doctors agree with this.

Keto works as a great kick-starter or a diet that you cycle on and off of. My DD did it and lost 30lbs in the course of 2.5 months, and has kept it off. She has now transitioned to a more realistic, lower (bad) carb, more veggies, lean protein way of eating.

She also does cardio-fasting.

The truth is, the best diet is the one that works for you.

I doubt if I’d ask a doctor for nutritional advice. They push what they hear in seminars, and think statins are a good thing. Not my idea of good information.

OK fruit loop. You do you, but I'll continue to believe sound medical research.

DP. You should definitely look up that “sound medical research” you believe supports the low-fat diet. Not articles or guidance supposedly based on the research, but the research itself.

Spoiler alert: it doesn’t exist.

Yup. I finally lost 10-15 pounds with keto that I could not get off. Cycled off and have maintained with calorie counting.

Paleo excludes beans, legumes, and lentils, which is quite absurd, as far as health goes. That, and it has nothing to do with dietary habits in paleolithic times - complete misnomer.
