This Is Us, Season 4

Agreed, Kevin went too far in saying that his worst day was Randall's adoption, but Randall started it with some really nasty stuff about Jack being ashamed of Kevin. Kevin would not have gone there without Randall starting it that way.

And don't forget that the whole fight was prompted by Kevin's unconscionable blackmail of Rebecca, potentially costing her precious, limited time with her family before she dies.

I’m pretty sure that Randall didn’t say that until Kevin claimed he would have physically dragged Jack out of the fire. Which is Monday Morning Quarterbacking —itself a form of emotional manipulation since he was not there and wasn’t put to the test. We do know that a Kevin was off partying and feeling sorry for himself the night of the fire while Randall actually experienced that trauma firsthand.

^^you mean Randall’s blackmail of Rebecca. But I agree with this. Both brothers were awful to each other, clearly a lot of issues that had been building up over the years finally surfaced. I thought it was a great scene. Sad, but realistic.

Just got to watch the episode - the one good thing about being stuck at home! It was gut wrenching to watch the brothers.

In the flash forward to Rebecca’s death bed, the camera focused on Nicky’s wedding band and then Kevin’s wedding band. I assume Kevin is married to Madison (but maybe not bc he said his great love will be his “child”). Who is Nicky married to? The marine girl - Cassidy?! Ew!

I feel like they put Sophie and Cassidy into scenes for a reason.

Omg good point about the aging, though may be multiple timelines in future view right?
Did you know mandy Moore is actually younger than the actors playing her kids?

I was sorely disappointed that Cassidy was still around, and even Sophie. Just go.

I'll be really surprised if Jennifer Morrison is NOT around next season. She carried a major network series for years and is arguably as big or a bigger star than almost anyone on the show except Mandy and maybe Milo.

That fight between Kevin and Randall was vicious, but I'm Team Kevin. Randall is an egomaniac with a major martyr complex. He is also a good father and a good partner, but pushing Rebecca to do something she didn't want to do was all about him. I also think it was a huge dick move to Miguel too. If Miguel had begged her to try the trial and she agreed, that would be a different story. And the fact that Randall lied to Kevin about his motivation - that he won't be able to live WITH HIMSELF if he doesn't force/manipulate his mother into this trial was just the cherry on top.

I'm glad Kevin gets a family. I don't think he and Madison end up together in the end, but it seems like it's most likely her at the 40th birthday. That was sweet seeing his kids at the end.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that Baby Jack has dark eyes and dark, curly hair and looks nothing like grown up Jack? And no Toby or Kate at the hospital for the birth.

Interesting that they introduce Madison's doctor and his daughter. Obviously they both have a part to play.

^ yes I thought that too, baby Jack has round soft features and is much darker than adult Jack.

And also am done with Randall, he is really on a tailspin. Wonder if Beth will leave.

Beth was not happy about how Randall handled the clinical trial. She might leave.

Honestly, I feel so bad for Miguel. Poor guy gets steam rolled by Rebecca’s kids - he’s super accommodating - pretty unreal.

As someone who is 50, and knows a lot of 50-ish people, they really over-aged everyone to make the point that it's in the future.

Yes, this was way off and bothered me.

I thought aging was fine. For Kevin Randall, it was just some additional gray. Rebecca looked so much older in part because her hair was long and more gray. That makes sense, because if she were sick for a long time, she wouldn't kept coloring it or cutting it into a bob. And being sick really ages your skin as well. She would have been sick for years, and probably chair or bed-bound for a lot of that.

Sorry, but I agree with the others. They had aged Kevin (and maybe Rebecca--hard to say) way more than 10 years worth. They should have either made the kids older or made the adults look younger. It was distracting.

me again- and the cousin turned one the day Madison said she's pregnant.

You're getting the timelines confused.

Timeline 1: 10-ish years into the future. This is where Randall & Tess leave to go see Rebecca. Rebecca is on her deathbed presumably in the house that Kevin built. We have seen Tess, but not Deja, Annie, Jack, or the adopted sister in this timeline. Last night we saw Kevin's twins. We have also seen Nicky, Kevin, Randall, Beth, Rebecca. We have not seen Miguel.

Timeline 2: 25-ish years into the future. We have seen Jack Damon meet his future wife after breaking a plate in his apartment, then becoming a famous singer. We also saw, last night, Jack Damon's wife give birth, and Jack's sister that Toby & Kate adopted. We have not seen any other characters in this timeline - not Kevin's kids, Randall's kids, or any of the big three.

Not accurate. Miguel was standing near the bed that Rebecca is in when Kevin/Randall join and then Kevin's twins come in. Miguel was in that scene, and he too had aged WAY MORE than 10 yrs.

Do we know where grown up Jack (Damon) lives? Is it in LA? Or might it be NY?

Oh wait! Was that Nicky next to Rebecca's bed? I assumed it was Miguel!

You are bothered by this but not the 12 different shades they've had Randall growing up.

I'm confused with the flash forward. Kevin and Randall look in their 60s. Is it possible that is 20 or 30 years in the future? That would still be feasible if Tess were 35ish but then who are the kids? Could the kids be cousins? The blonde girl could be Hope (Kate's granddaughter) and the little boy could be Kevin's grandson? I'm confused.

I'm the PP. I actually just found an article from last season https://ew.com/tv/2018/07/31/this-is-us-season-3-creator-mystery-end-of-show/ where the creator mentions the flash forward is 15 years. Those kids are definitely not 15. Maybe it really is more like 10-12 years but they definitely aged the men too much.
