Agreed. I grew up here and have been going to the Mall for the 4th for decades. This year was just as "crowded" as other years, but the concentration of people was around the Lincoln Memorial and Capitol. The people trying their best to troll and make it out as something "sinister" simply don't want to admit the layout was different than years past. Anyone can see from these (UNphotoshopped pictures) that the crowd was huge. |
Obviously. |
THIS x 100. |

Wrong. Plenty of independents are running - not walking - away from the Democratic Party. Gee, I wonder why that could be? |
OMG. Quit your pathetic trolling. ![]() |
You are such a dope, and I say that as kindly as possible. It rained on and off, but certainly not the entire day. People tend to put their umbrellas away when it's not actively raining. ![]() |
Well, I completely disagree with every word you said, as do millions of others. I found it all very inspiring and was reminded yet again of why I'm proud to be an American. Sorry to see you don't feel that way - and that you're *still* sulking. ![]() |

https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2019/07/05/lost-wall-smoke-why-so-many-people-couldnt-see-washingtons-july-th-fireworks/?hpid&utm_term=.ac7c9cff529f
"By all accounts, Washington’s Fourth of July fireworks were spectacular, if you could actually see them. Many people could not. The fireworks and lack of wind created a towering wall of smoke so thick that it not only ruined many views but also caused Washington’s air quality to plummet to worst in the nation. In parts of the District, the pollution was likely “as bad as India/China at its worst” tweeted Dan Goldberg, an air quality researcher at George Washington University. Within minutes of the fireworks exploding into the sky, smoke filled the air above and downwind of where they were ignited (behind the Lincoln Memorial and at West Potomac Park). A lack of wind allowed the smoke to collect, building a giant wall that partially or completely obscured views between Southwest Washington and downtown, including along the Mall." This explains what I saw on the Capitol Fourth show. It looked incredibly smoky and hard to see the fireworks. |
It was a soggy failure...and the draft dodging buffoon embarrassed himself and his country as usual. |
I posted above that the crowds were less than the 20-plus previous years I’ve been going to the mall. I have no axe to grind - had a good time with family this year, fireworks were great, and we enjoyed ourselves.
But it was not as crowded outside of the Reflecting Pool and Lincoln Memorial as it has been in previous years. The mall is typically packed, too. This year it wasn’t. Even Metro wasn’t as busy. |
We took 2.5 million from NPS for this fantasy fulfillment. And how many people actually got to see the tanks up close? One justification I kept seeing was “tanks are fun and kids love them.” But where are are the selfies of people with the tanks? Where are the news photos of crowds around the tanks? So much time and effort to bring props that only a handful of rich and powerful even got to see in person. I haven’t seen a single photo of civilians at the tanks. |
Trump is still complaining about his Inaugural crowd. Why do you think he did this in the first place? |
