Now, time to vote.

Absolutely. The Democrats cannot be rewarded for pulling eleventh hour dirty moves like this. They need to learn this kind of crap will not be tolerated. Take the vote as scheduled.

Pot meet Kettle.

BTW what is in those 100k documents concerning Kavanaugh the GOP withheld from the American people?? Shenanigans? Look in the mirror!!

The “American people” are not clamoring or even interested in those 100k documents. Only a bunch of desperate nut jobs who have lost all credibility care.

Because it was homemade videos of young women, some who looked <18, dressed in midriff baring cutoffs and bikinis. The couple of videos I watched were the camera slowly panning up from the pelvic area to their face so we could watch them seductively eat an oyster.

Not the guy Bart, I mean Brett, wants as his alibi witness.

Yeah I know! But @riotwomenn on Twitter has at least one of the videos.

His alibi witness didn’t deny the incident, saying instead that he doesn’t recall it happening.

His alibi witness also wrote a book about being a blackout drunk.

I've seen this exact scenario involved occur in this crowd (both in high school, college, law school, and working in DC as a young attorney) and I'm not shocked this happened (not am I shocked they got a pile of women to deny it because protecting status is way, way more important than protecting people -- See the Andover scandal). I've pulled girlfriends out of situations exactly described by this woman. The loud music is the biggest detail that gives me chills.

I think the thing I find the most compelling is that the woman reported spending years getting mental health treatment to work through this trauma. She probably has those receipts. People don't spend years in therapy talking about being raped and try to heal privately if there isn't a legitimate trauma there. If she was going to pull a stunt, Judge K was running around and previously confirmed for years. There's probably a reason why she brought this out now.

I also think Judge K disclosed this and she was probably contacted during the FBI background check. My guess is that is how this whole thing blew up. The woman in the letter probably felt like she needed to tell her story before someone else did. I imagine the GOP knew as well and got the framework to get those signatures because a woman I know on that list (spilling tea) was contacted quite a bit ago. My friend hasn't come out yet, but she's considering it. She's trying to weigh the professional/personal damage from getting involved.

+1 to the letter. I know people on this list, and they were asked to sign on as a "character witness," but knew nothing of the potential allegations. It was a bait and switch.

Yikes. I hope they make that public.

Original PP. The woman I know was in the same exact position. That's why she's not happy about her name being involved. But she's very, very reluctant because people she knows have talked about how the woman in the letter is going to be destroyed when this is over if anyone leaks her name. The woman I know doesn't want to be pulled into that circus, particularly since they have kids in one of these elite privates, her DH works in DC and her club and community are involved.

My guess is she doesn't say anything. The only reason I knew was that she mentioned the letter to me well before the hearings. She was actually excited to support him, fwiw until she realized her name was being used in this context.

Do you write fiction for a living? That's some tall tale you're spinning! Give it a rest - multiple news sources have reported that these women organized the signatures in ONE day - right after the letter was made public.

Also, it's remarkable that you're more suspicious of a letter from ACTUAL PEOPLE in support of Kavanaugh, than an ANONYMOUS accusation from "someone" who refuses to come forward. Very telling indeed.

Yes - it is quite remarkable.

And, some of the women here who have related their experiences in private school should remember that.

Yep, still putting their hand over womens' mouths, 35 years later.

This anonymous accuser needs to have the coursge to stand up for women or keep her mouth shut herself. This anonymous bullshit only hurts women.

Couldn't agree more. I have no patience with "anonymous" anyone.
- a woman

...say the anonymous posters. If you have so little patience for anonymity, then why don't you all create accounts and identify yourselves?

Hypocrites have no credibility.

The GOP knows the woman's name. If she's so unreliable you'd think they would've leaked it by now. Problem is she's a super-impressive person who has receipts. Of course Anita Hill was too and we know how that went.

Feinstein gave the woman's letter to the FBI, who then passed it on to the White House for Kavanaugh's background file. If the woman were a loser don't you think Trump would be tweeting about it?

Yeah. I figured you had made up that claim.
Feinstein redacted the name before passing it to the FBI.

Likely, she sat on it because she knows it's not a really credible accusation but was pressured to do it as a last ditch effort. As a woman, I'm embarrassed for her because it's beneath her usual way of operating and weakens her own credibility.

Nope, she sat on it because she did not want the woman to be made the next Anita Hill against her will. The venom coming from your side makes clear why the woman would want to protect her life and privacy,

DP. Shall we address the venom coming from "your side"? An anonymous letter comes out, and you've already decided Kavanaugh is guilty. That's all it takes - one anonymous accusation, from 30+ years ago, with zero evidence. If a politician is conservative, he's guilty no matter what in your eyes. And you wonder (or you *should* wonder) why no one takes liberals seriously anymore.

+1
And, don’t forget - this accusation came out of the blue after a week of character assassination by the Democrats, loud and obnoxious protests during the hearing, and an attempt to intimidate the nominee with questionnaires that had more questions that previous SCOTUS nominees COMBINED. And, this was all after many Democratic Senators had refused to meet with Kavanaugh and had already publicly stated they would not vote for this nominee.
https://gop.com/dems-yelling-the-loudest-today-are-already-opposed-to-judge-kavanaugh-rsr

Sorry, to the above member of the Republican tribe, no sympathy here. While the latest accusations against Judge K are certainly questionable, the Senate Judiciary Committee has every right to question Judge K. And, frankly, his key role with Ken Starr and his views on Mueller's investigation are very relevant. As for Democrats not meeting with him, BS. You may recall the far worse treatment was afforded to Judge Garland. Your tribe lacks all principles.

Anonymous
I think the Republicans were shits for not giving Garland a hearing, and that the Democrats are shits for their 11th hour attempt to derail the Kavanaugh nomination through anonymous character assassination. Most of the posters on this thread sound like the usual cast of partisan hacks, and you deserve each other. The sad thing is that few of you seem to realize what tools you are or how you just keep dragging this once-decent country further into the abyss.
