Senate Democrats sending secret letter about Kavanaugh to FBI

Anonymous
This has really touched a nerve. I hope it’s on the Sunday talk shows.

I’m guessing the accuser will come forward, especially since a number of people know her name.

It does seem like a long time has passed since this alleged incident, but that’s no reason to dismiss it. If the woman has people willing to back her up, it may turn out that she is telling the truth.

We’ll find out one way or another.

On the left. White shirt with long sleeves , jeans holding the biggest cup. To me he's instantly recognizable. I can honestly say, even during reunion years, I've never posted pictures of my high school friends. Mr. Judge must have peaked in high school.

When this story broke it was reported that the accuser had hired Debra Katz in D.C. Is that no longer the case? Initially I thought Feinstein sat on the letter until the accuser got an attorney and she was signaling a willingness to come forward.

The accuser is not known to the FBI. The name was redacted by Feinstein before passing on the letter.

FBI rolls eyes, says whatever and tucks claim away in a folder. Done.

Now, time to vote.

Yep, still putting their hand over womens' mouths, 35 years later.

This anonymous accuser needs to have the coursge to stand up for women or keep her mouth shut herself. This anonymous bullshit only hurts women.

Couldn't agree more. I have no patience with "anonymous" anyone.

...say the anonymous posters. If you have so little patience for anonymity, then why don't you all create accounts and identify yourselves?

Hypocrites have no credibility.

Well, let's see... because I'm not accusing anyone of anything? If I had an accusation to make, it most certainly wouldn't be anonymously. Now you, on the other hand...

You're accusing the victim of lying and being a coward, anonymously.

Do you mean the alleged victim, whose allegations may or may not be true and, if true, stop well short of what's been claimed ("rape") by some of the hysterical posters on this thread?

I can't believe that everyone could possibly think we should be judged by our HIGH SCHOOL behaviors. Really?!

For all their bluster about liberal desperation, conservatives are having some serious trouble with this whole concept, aren’t they? I’m a know nothing from nowhere near DC (and when I lived there, I was equally a know no one in particular), but this woman’s claims sound completely credible. It actually sounds very, very similar to my sister’s rape, separated by about twenty years and 2000 miles.

Cons on this thread have suggested that the actions described sound totally normal (what kind of aberrant sexual deviancy did they get up to in high school that this sounds like normal sex?)

They’ve insulted the victim. They’ve insulted Feinstein. They’ve insulted anyone who supports sexual assault victims. They've insulted the Democrats in general. They’re just kind of spraying insults everywhere but in the one place it should be sprayed: on their garbage president and his horrible nominee. If you’re still friends with her, please tell her I am saying a prayer for her tonight for her safety, her bravery and her continued courage, as well as the other victims when they come forward.

You are such a poseur. Give us all a break. You're actually jumping right over any investigation into the presumption of guilt. Do you even know how the legal system works? Someone is not guilty because you say he is. I'm always going to support sexual assault victims. Right now, we don't have one. We have a one-sided, anonymous account that you liberals are eating up, and why? Because you're desperately hoping that smearing Kavanaugh's name prevents him from confirmation. No evidence, no witnesses, nothing at all. Yet you're insisting this actually happened - because you desperately hope it did happen.

I didn't think liberals could get much more disgusting, but you guys surprise me each and every day. I certainly hope no one accuses your husband or sons of sexual assault - with no evidence whatsoever - and then goes on to tell anyone who will listen that you're married to a rapist. That might just ruin your lives.

+1 Even lesser accusations have ruined teachers' lives. Hard to believe that anyone would toss around the word "rapist" without evidence.

Why don't you ask the sexual assault victim. She doesn't see it the same way. Probably because she was assaulted.

Yep. Con desperation. The stanky sweat of people who know they’re propping up garbage.

And I like how you wrote your last sentence like a threat. Klassy.

Not only do you think it’s okay to spread rumors that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted someone in high school but now you want to spread rumors that it’s standard behavior for boys at like Landon and Prep to sexually assault girls. Good grief, you are sick. And no, I’m not associated with either of those schools in any way. And I’m a moderate registered Democrat who feels like she’s lost her party.

It’s not rumors, it is allaegations. Perhaps you should actually read the article.

“Allegations” made by some anonymous person who curiously has come out of the woodwork after 30 years. And it doesn’t even sound like she is alleging something illegal. A boy tried to kiss me in high school!!!

Yep. I remember something similar happening to me at that age. I'm not about to dredge it up now, 30 yrs. later. This is beyond idiotic.

Maybe you should. It sounds like you still have some open psychological wounds that haven't healed.

There needs to be far more nuanced view here. A single incident from 30+ years ago should not destroy anyone's life, whether male or female. Being a Democrat, I am no fan of Judge K or of how the Republican Senate treated Garland. I no doubt would vote against him if I were a Senator. But everybody has gone too far here. There is a huge difference between what we think Judge K did today, what Bill did over decades, and then what Donald did over decades. Huge range of behaviors. I do not where the line is, but it is not at zero. Take the Duke lax scandal. As it turns out, the boys did not do what everybody was screaming about. But what is acknowledged is that a college lax team hired a stripper for a team party. That itself is inappropriate, though not illegal. The screaming around that scandal was overblown, and ignored what we know really happened.

Oh look, another one of those "I'm a Democrat but..." posts.

We all know you're a pro- Kavanaugh shill so just cut the crap. An attempted sexual assault is no comparison to hiring a stripper for a party - don't even try to justify it.

My DH went to one of these schools in the early 80's, and partied with this crowd when Prep was known to be the worst of the worst. We know a woman who was approached to sign the "good character" letter and refused. Kavanaugh was the quiet, smart guy who hung back, but watch out when he was drinking. At Yale he was part of drunk boys frat. I have no doubt that other women have stories about him.

And presumably you would have voted not only to impeach Bill but to convict Bill. Same with Franken? What about Ellison from MN? Same? BTW. I am local as well (Big 3) and knew/know many GP guys. And what about the "mean" girls who mistreat their classmates? How should that behavior affect their careers, 30 years later? What about the high school kid who "borrowed" something from a store in a single incident? Or forgot to pay for my drinks at a bar? Get real! Frankly, someone who has done nothing stupid or wrong over 30 plus years would worry me more.

DP. So you're not really a Democrat, you were just posing as one?

Sounds like just another Trump troll trying to pretend attempted sexual assault is the same thing as mean girl behavior or shoplifting.

Nope. I am a confirmed Democrat. Voted Democratic in over 95%, in all elections. Occasional $ contributor to Democrats. Federal and state. Most everybody who knows me knows that I am a Democrat. Worked on a few D campaigns. Sorry. My question is should Bill have been convicted in the Senate? What he did was far worse and lasted for decades. Should Franken have resigned? And what about Senator Kennedy? What we know NOW about Judge K is that he did something stupid in high school. There is no even allegations NOW that, unlike Bill or even Donald, this behavior was regular and ongoing, whether physical or verbal. I ask again what about the "mean" girl treatment that daughters of my friends have received around town. And I know that some of the girls that moved in these same circles with Judge K fell into that "mean" character. Sorry. I was in those circles. Attended 2 of Big 5.

I like how you use only Democrats as examples of misbehavior

Easy response. I assume Republicans have no standards. Not worthy discussing. If that tribe has revealed anything over the last 2 years, it is that they are rampant hypocrites, lacking any morals or principles. The Christian right are nothing more than hucksters. We Democrats do have standards, and we generally enforce them even against our own. All good. But we risk going too far. No one is perfect. Everyone has done something stupid or wrong in their lives. If not, then I would probably would not want them on the Court anyhow.

That you actually believe this is troubling in and of itself.

Fact speak. An easy response here. Too many examples to mention. Lets see. The Fox crowd was pushed out after much bad PR not by Republicans. Ray Moore was accepted and supported, despite multiple and public accusations. Trump is on tape. Republicans support him, still. Democrats pushed out Franken, etc.
