9 Supreme court justices disagree but I am sure you know better |
Reminds me of a playdate my son had several years ago with a friend that lived in a huge house in Potomac. I'm a nursing professor and was telling the other mom about taking students to a local Headstart program and how students are often surprised that for some of the kids, a meal at home was a tortilla. She was shocked and said "A tortilla??? How do they get their kids to eat a tortilla, my kids won't eat tortillas! What kind of kid eats a tortilla????" I'm like, uhhhh, the kids of the people who mow your acres of grass, fix your roof, do your laundry, and clean your house. They actually have families too and they don't live on multimillion dollar estates. Good grief, it's been 20 years and I still remember that lady like yesterday. |
What has this got to do with the president defying the judiciary and the future precedent this case sets? |
Oh please. The DC "elites" are not the ones addicted to cheap labor. It's actually the farms and manufacturing facilities in the south and midwest that are addicted. I don't see many Americans trying to pick fruit and veggies. |
Not a damn thing. Just stupid people being obtuse. |
Nope, he entered illegally. If he had a legal entry, he would have a IS citizenship through his US wife by now. |
CVh says Bukele set him up re “margarita gate”. |
That was fairly obvious. I mean the guy showed up in jeans and a nice new shirt - pretty sure that's not prison-issued. |
If you are a nursing professor in the DC area, then you know that many of our nurses taking care of our sickest population are also immigrants. I was a nurse manager at a major DC hospital and most of my staff were immigrants. Legal status verified by HR, not always a full US citizen at time of hire. Happy to have them with the chronic nursing shortage. So then you are also aware of the ramifications of our own US leadership admitting they made an error and sent someone out and then defying a Supreme Court order to facilitate their return - and what this means for future cases when whoops! Legal immigrants are sent out before basic due process has occurred. |
This guy had due process. They did not deport the wrong person. They deported someone who was eligible for deportation. The judge has a point, that the government can't be picking up citizens and deporting them, but he missed the point that the district judge isn't doing what the Supreme Court ordered. |
The Supreme Court said treat him as if you hadn't made the mistake. They didn't say he required more due process. |
You did not read the latest Appeals court ruling, written by a very conservative Regan appointee, Federalist Society judge. Catch up. Read that and get back to us. |
The supreme court said to facilitate his return and Trump is playing semantics |
The Supreme Court said facilitate his release from custody. They didn't say return to US. |
" The order properly requires the Government to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador" |
