2025 VA Governor's race

Funny how Republicans want to pretend like Sears didn't repeatedly break the law.

"Financial disclosure gaps, questionable gifts cloud Earle-Sears’ bid for governor"

“ Virginia Republican gubernatorial nominee Winsome Earle-Sears built her political brand on transparency and accountability. But a closer look at her public filings reveals a pattern of omissions and inconsistencies in her financial disclosures — including a $12,000 “gift” far above the state’s legal limit and multiple undisclosed trips funded by outside organizations.”

“If it were one or two instances, then this could be brushed aside as an innocent mistake,” he said. “But there seems to be a pattern of accepting gifts and not reporting them, which is troubling to me insofar as it risks undermining public confidence that our democracy is free from corruption.”

This bigot does not belong in Richmond.

Spanberger is weak and indecisive. If the roles were reversed and a white Republican had treated a black Democrat in the manner in which Spanberger treated Earle-Sears and by extension ever citizen of the commonwealth this race would be over.

What are you smoking?

Spanberger was respectful, unlike Sears.

I don’t know what you were watching. Earle-Sears constantly interrupted - are you suggesting that was decisiveness and strength? I doubt many would agree with you. Spanberger appeared to me to be thoughtful and deliberative. Earle-Sears was… not.

Sears was 100% MAGA nut job at the debate. Rude, stupid talking points.

Spanberger could not answer two clear questions. She should have taken a stand and she came across as uncaring.

Ugh. Two terrible choices.

You doubt many would agree with Earle-Sears style… but that style is exactly what propelled Trump in those 2015 primary debates and the 2016 Hillary debates. MAGA and (honestly a lot of moderates) LOVE seeing people “buck” the establishment / stick it to the bureaucrats and that includes interrupting to literally and figuratively cut through the BS / politician talk. You might not agree and it might be rude but it’s a style and it’s effective at winning over non Democrats.

She answered, even if you don't like her answers.

+1000. She has jumped from career to career trying to find something she is good at, Governor certainly won’t be a good fit for her either.

+1 I agree!

You’re telling me that these two candidates are the best from each of the parties?

Both choices aren't great, but it's what we have. I was disappointed in Spanberger. Her body language and how she "answered" the questions told me she wasn't being honest. I would have liked for her to not be so evasive. I really don't know what she can do for VA in this upcoming election. Her campaign says a lot of what she stands for, but the debate told me something else.
