Italy is spreading this everywhere. Jesus.

Countries need to stop allowing Italian nationals into their countries.

Of course, the world is much more reluctant to ban Italians, but can easily ban Chinese and Iranians and would do so for any country deemed as being more ‘other’ and Western Europe does not fit that label.

There’s not even anyone saying people returning from Italy should self isolate. Really though, anyone flying in from much of Europe should be self isolating.

oh shut up.

Let's see, COVID-19 spread out from Italy to:

Spain
Switzerland
USA
Dominican Republic
UK
France
Mexico
Colombia
Greece
Austria
Croatia
Algeria
Norway
Brazil
San Marino

Am I missing others?

But no country wants to ban a European and I bet no one is moving away from "Italian looking" people on the Metro.

You did miss some! Looks like everyone likes to vacation in Italy.

Not sure if this list fully completes yours, but between the two there are thirty countries (ex-Colombia--no cases recorded there yet).

Iceland
U.A.E.
Germany
Monaco
Luxembourg
Czech Republic
Germany
Netherlands
Ireland
Israel
Denmark
Finland
Sweden
Romania
Lithuania
Nigeria

Wow! Yes I missed quite a lot.

And this is only in the past 2 weeks. Somebody needs to tell them to stay home.

Already out-of-date. Scotland now has its first case, Italy-related. Brings it to 31 countries.

This is an interesting thought process. Let's expand. Who gets the beds if we end up overextended? How will you feel if you find out that illegal aliens are getting treatment and, as an American citizen with health insurance, not your wife/father/mother/husband/daughter because there are no beds left?

WHO Chief Says Widespread Travel Bans Not Needed to Beat Virus

Highlights:

The head of the World Health Organization said on Monday there was no need for measures that “unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade” in trying to halt the spread of a coronavirus that has killed 361 people in China, and he lauded China’s efforts to contain it.

Tedros said that China was using the right strategy of focusing its efforts on the hardest-hit places and slowing the spread, which he described as “small.”

China is “protecting the Chinese people and protecting the rest of the world,” he said.

“It’s no reason to really panic now,” he said. “The chances of getting this going to anywhere outside China is very low, and even in China, when you go to other provinces, it’s very low.”

Referring to the virus’ spread abroad, Tedros said it was “minimal and slow,” while warning that it could worsen.

China’s delegate took the floor at the WHO executive board and denounced measures by “some countries” that have denied entry to people holding passports issued in Hubei province—at the center of the outbreak—and to deny visas and cancel flights.

All these measures are seriously against recommendation by the WHO,”

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying accused the US of catalyzing public fear surrounding the coronavirus through its evacuations of US citizens from China and ban on Chinese travelers to the country.

(This is where the case numbers were at that time of this article)
There have been 17,238 confirmed infections in China including 361 deaths, as well as 151 confirmed cases in 23 countries and 1 death which was reported from the Philippines on Sunday, Tendros added.

The United States recorded its 11th case of the coronavirus, with a couple from central California falling ill after the husband’s trip to China’s Hubei province at the epicenter of the outbreak.

Holy good GOD!! China, one of the worst abusers of human rights in the world, are the good guys. I can't even.

The WHO has been very helpful

Yes, very helpfully spreading this into a pandemic.

Oh, c’mon. We already know that citizens aren’t prioritized in America today.

Isn’t Catholicism the main religion there? I’m wondering if sharing the cup at mass led to the widespread outbreak in certain villages.

Rhode Island has our first case, so the rest of the East Coast can't be far behind.

This is straight up xenophobia mixed with gotcha-ism.

There are nowhere near enough beds across this country compared to the amount of citizens. If it gets to the point where I'm questioning why my kid isn't getting care I won't have time to ask who is and isn't illegal - I'll want my kid to have a bed no matter what if put in that position and that's a position of extreme circumstance. Asking for green cards does what exactly if there are piles of people at the hospital? It means maybe we moved up a few spots in line to wait for a bed if only citizens were allowed them.

I like how they suggest that people with coronavirus symptoms call their health care provider, considering that a huge fraction of the population doesn't have one. Europe and Asia has implemented public numbers to be called...Once again, we are behind. Shame on us.

I agree with you. And what really gets me is that our country had the time to prepare for this based on what we saw happening in China, and we have the resources. Yet I’m feeling like the US is not as well-prepared to face this as we should be.

16 nursing students and a faculty member from a college in Washington state were possibly exposed to coronavirus

CNN’s Artemis Moshtaghian and Natasha Chen

One nursing faculty member and 16 students from Lake Washington Institute of Technology were at the Life Care Center of Kirkland last week and may have been exposed to coronavirus, the school said.

"Our faculty have been in contact with those students, as well as college administration," said Dr. Amy Morrison, LWTech president. "Currently, the college is awaiting guidance from King County Public Health in order to provide information and guidance to our faculty and students."

Out of an "abundance of caution," the college will be closed Monday and Tuesday to continue disinfecting and cleaning the campus, according to Morrison's statement.

So why on earth are you for bringing more people in if there already aren't enough for our own citizens? That's my point. The first people a pandemic will hit is those living in very close quarters and those out on the streets already in bad shape. For God's sake we were looking at PLAGUE in LA! Wake up!
