US coronavirus cases top 10,000 and on the same or worse curve than Italy

Hope you feel better after your rant.
As I said, I am satisfied with the response of the federal govt. and my state governor. Too bad other governors have not responded as well.

If the bar is low enough, then satisfaction is guaranteed.

Did you see how VA was testing? lol
If you are tested three times, and your results are three positives, you're added to the dbase as three different stats.

This is blown out of proportion.

This is inaccurate or deflection. There's no reason to correct you because you don't care. You don't care about the worst pandemic our world has had in 100 years.

Had he closed things down earlier - he would have been criticized for ruining the economy for no reason.
Had he waited, he would have been criticized for "more deaths."

What is clear is that the left will blame him for any deaths related to the virus AND blame him for any issues with the economy.

Truth is.... he made good decisions early on. Early estimates were that deaths in the US could exceed 2 million. We won't even come close.
He has been praised by Fauci, Birx, Cuomo, and Newsome. Also, by many other governors.
Had some governors (ahem, Cuomo) made better decisions when it came to nursing homes, we would be in a much better place in terms of death count.

CDC struggled with testing early on, but that has gotten better. If you need a test, you can get a test unless your governor has not done what he/she needs to do to get the tests and testing sites up and running.

Contact tracing is a whole different issue. Accurate contact tracing depends upon the individuals being honest about their activity and not minding others delving into their lives. Major privacy issues. And, using technology to assist in this effort could be deemed unconstitutional.

All in all, I am happy with the response of the federal government and my state governor. My state is open for business, as it should be.

The CDC say you're wrong. FYI

Trying to shut down in January or even February would have been ridiculous. There were less than 100 identified cases at the end of February.

The CDC screwed up the initial testing capability we needed

Contact tracing is a privacy/trust issue we are an individualistic society vs collective (most SE asian countries)

We have public health agencies at the state and federal level. Maybe you've never interacted with them or heard from them but they're there.

they aren't big enough or have experience with real contact tracing plus the CDC testing failure made it hard to contact trace

The reality is we were forced to go to shutdown because of the testing failure at the outset

I am interested in what you think needs correction because I tend to agree with pp.
And, where do you get off making the statement in bold? Nothing pp stated leads me to believe that he/she doesn't care.

Because she's wrong. The "misclassification" of covid deaths is a talking point but it's wrong. Virginia hasn't changed how positive cases are counted, has changed how numbers of tests are counted.

When she's posting wrong information, I have a hard time believing that she cares about the pandemic. Only scoring points.

Yes, they have experience with real contact tracing. They may be too small but that's not a permanent state.

I don't know about VA, but I disagree with the bolded.....

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/15/health/us-coronavirus-deaths-trends-wednesday/index.html
....Deaths will include those that are "probable" but didn't have a test. These could be anything respiratory related. Regular flu? Yep, Covid-19. Asthma? Yep. Covid-19
https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/85925
And, we have patients who have died WITH the virus but not BECAUSE of the virus. It is difficult to discern which it is.

And, hospitals get a higher reimbursement for COVID-19 related deaths.

And, this is just one of many problems with contact tracing.......

Using scare tactics is not helpful, but if you look at China that is what they did. That said they have been effective at decreasing their rate.

Trump: "We may be talking about 95,000 people, ultimately. We may be talking about something more than that."

Previous Trump estimates:
Feb 26: 15 cases down to almost 0
April 20: 50K-60K deaths
April 29: 60K-70K deaths
May 3: 75K-100K deaths
Earlier today: 100K or 110K deaths

Recall, Trump wanted Obama to resign over 11 Ebola cases.

We love you. We're with you," President Trump said to Americans who have lost a loved one to the virus. "There is nobody—I don't sleep at night just thinking about it—there is nobody that's taken it harder than me."

Yes, it is all about you Donald Trump. Are you even human?
