Soccer
You can say this about every sport (basketball & football) as well. A lot of players end up working at grocery stores, etc. |
This is just plain dumb. Kids do not end up working in grocery stores as adults because they played youth soccer. |
Why is that surprising? My kid is in the CCL. It is horrible. Under u12, two big clubs dominate the league ....every other team is a distance third. After u12, it’s a third tier league at best. What you think college coaches are watching CCL tape...lol. Oh and I hear the CCl2 is even worst. They have problem scheduling games within an hour of the DMV. I guess the boys side keeps it going??? ...or maybe the big clubs get a kick back or something. Let’s face it. If Loudoun or Arlington left the CCL how long would the league last? It would make sense to give those team some type of financial incentive to stay in the league. I wonder if they do? |
At our W school, girls can’t make the HS team without playing club. Just doesn’t happen. For us, the whole point of playing club is to make the HS team (which is fun with lots of life lessons learned), forget about playing in college. |
its sad actually, the days of CCL being premier is over. Once a long time ago when Mclean, Bethesda, Loudoun, Arlington, etc.. were all in the same league it was epic. All the big names in one league, people were hyped but now its a dying league. after U12 there is no reason to even be in it same goes for NPL. Either do EDP or ECNL/DA |
The same thing happened to NCSL ... time for a shiny new league |
Please. Not this. How about just one nonshiny league with appropriate adjustments in fall, spring, and following season. |
CCL doomed themselves when they kicked McLean and BRYC out of the league. It meant something before. |
Why did they get kicked out? |
| Rumor is when the boys joined ECNL they got kicked out. Since Loudoun and Arlington remain in and they both have ECNL and Da teams I'm not sure that is the real reason. |
Arent these kids a little young to worry about all the crap? |
No next year is the year when everyone makes the move to DA/ECNL. So the DA ID camps will start in December/January(?). If you do not make the DA/ECNL teams at u13, the player will have an uphill struggle to make a DA/ECNL team. The coaches really only consider players coming from another DA/ECNL team as a possibility for their team. It’s weird that way but that’s the way it is in our system. If you are on a u12 top team at a DA/ECNL club like Arlington u12 girl reds, you are almost guaranteed to make the DA team. You only have to worry about outside players coming in. If that happens, you may drop to the lower team but practice with the DA team. Second team players will not be considered and are not the competition. |
Moving to the 11v11 field exposes many kids. Many that were great at U12 disappear at U13. At a top club, there will still be significant changes between U13, U14 and U15 for ECNL/GDA teams. Many U12 superstars will not be playing at those levels come U15. |
Yeah maybe so but those changes will not come from within the club. It will be outside the club players who come in. |
| seems like Loudoun will have a good team next year. Unless FCV decides to stay |
