So I saw the red team play at WAGS and OBGC. This is not a trash talking post. They are good athletes but a large percentage of the players are over their heads when facing better soccer players of similar athleticism and size. Many of the Arlington players lack either the technical skills or soccer iq(spatial awareness) or both. The overall play is not good(ie movement off the ball, too linear, lack of creativity, speed of play, first touch and unable to complete passes under pressure). The CCL is a very weak league and does not give you a good picture of what you have.

This is not a one time thing. The teams you played in the OBGC were a flight above you and they lost. The Baltimore Shamrocks got rocked and Baltimore Celtics(you did not play but easily won the OBGC tournament) did not show well - ie the teams in the flight above you at WAGS are a lot better vs Arlington. Playing the second bracket means you will not get enough points to keep up with other teams. You will not be in the top flight of the Jeff cup ...maybe 4th to 6th flight.

So I have a younger DD in your age and an older one. Been through the ECNL u13 year which will be similar to DA u13. There are maybe 3-4 girls on your team who are safe for next year. It’s pretty obvious who they are. The other girls(right now) are not starting DA caliber and Arlington will try to replace them. Your top 3-4 will be recruited because of your tournament history and teams falling ranking since last year’s Jeff cup showing. Go into next year with your eyes opened.

This. They have a center back, a goalie, and one passable forward. Their strikers and center mids can't field a ball without fouling or going to the turf. They have a really young female coach and some old guy that is practically asleep on the sidelines as their assistant... I bet the rest of the team is gone within two years.... Arlington, McLean and Loudoun are the old guard -- VSA and PWSI with their superior coaching, player pool, and field space -- are the future.

ALL HAIL PWSI AND VSA TEAMS OF THE FUTURE

The mighty PWSI has losses to Herndon and Vienna this season. They have to learn how to win against small clubs first before they can challenge the old guard. VSA beat Arlington, but as noted by other posters Arlington is having a rough season.

I do not know if it is a rough season...more like a separation or sorting that is occurring. The teams that play soccer are starting to take off. Other teams that just rely on athleticism are falling behind. One thing wags showed, clubs in this area are not competitive with the top clubs from outside this area. NoVa area is no SoCa...lol.

Have not been following them. Usually you will see a drop off starting in the spring u11 season that continues in the u12 season(mostly in tournament play) or the reverse. Just watch their games - teams you beat easily in past years are becoming more of a challenge, other teams are string 3-5 passes together and your team is not, linear vs non linear play, players dribbling with their heads up, one or two touch passing, accurate passing under pressure, passes do not lead to turnovers, etc. It’s not going to be there all the time(the kids are u12) but this is playing soccer.

They are pretty small and physically weak. Typical PWSI team.

Dilution is real. There are enough talented kids but they are sprinkled across many different clubs.

Yes but most parents have no clue.

Don't say that. My kid is the 9th best player on McLean green and I think she's a D1 shoo in

It’s not at Muldoon’s Farm this year. It is at the Soccerplex.

Most tournaments in this area are a fiasco. Listen to the older folks who have been down this path. If your kid loves the game and has skills they will do fine. If they complain about practice and don’t want to go when it rains, stick with HS. This is not an inexpensive or time-compassionate sport. It may be ‘fun’ to hang out on fields on the weekend when they are young, but think about the opportunity costs... This sport is more about employing former, unemployable, soccer players.
