DC Public and Public Charter Schools
| Let’s all flood the central office with written requests for discretionary transfers. Because if his daighter’s behaviors meet the threshold, so do my kid’s. |
|
He should have the decency to resign after breaking his own damn rule but instead he is clinging to his job and clearly plans to stay no matter what.
Does he even care that he cannot be an effective leader now? How are the teachers, parents and students at Dunbar feeling right now? Talk about also emboldening the boundary cheaters. It is everyman for himself if he stays. People will cheat or do whatever they can to get into the school they want and rationalize it by saying I need to do whatever I can for my kid. Correction Mr. Chancellor - we do what we can for our kids within boundary of the rules. Why did the Mayor and Council hire this clown? |
Touch spot for Mr. Wilson. He can't own up and tell the truth because he'll sound like a self righteous hypocrite and he can't lie about it because it makes him look weak. Not the qualities one looks for in a leader. |
| He clearly lacks any integrity. That interview is embarrassing. The Mayor better get her shit together pronto. And I can’t wait for Jennie Niles to talk. |

Wow. That interview did him no favors. I want him to resign even more now.
I guess eveey kid who has any problem at any EOTP school should be allowed to transfer to Wilson. I respect him even less that he thought that BS would fly. |
No problem, good luck, and I hope things get better. |
| I don’t want to hear another damn word about boundary cheaters or not going to your IB school anymore. If the chancellor thinks his excuses in that interview are good enough for him, they’re good enough for everybody. |
Thanks and, as a previous poster suggested--maybe tongue and cheek--I am definitely going to contact the central office (and my Councilmember) about a change for DC. I will be sure to mention the Chancellor's move as precedent. |
| What a load of BS. His crap is so transparent in that interview. I believe his apology about zero. |
| To the Mom looking to lottery next year - add janney to your list as well as Mann. They all have smaller class sizes in upper grades. |
|
I’m calling Central office and asking if I can partake in the “Wilson Act” to get my child into Oyster.
The kids at our EOTP dual-language school is driving my child insane. |
I am sorry about that... Have you looked at sacred heart? There are also parochial in capitol hill. My parents put me in one when they thought I wouldn't survive local. I felt exactly like your daughter. It's no fun going to school with children who abuse teachers and education. Good luck to you with that and the lottery. And if more officials sent their kids there, maybe those schools would improve, though that would be the tip of the iceberg. At least they would stop spouting off about how any teacher should be able to make improvements by themselves in a year. Bad DC schools are just... Unreal. |
Exactly! His interview is a slap ine the face. Our kids would like to have a say, we would like to have a say, but we don’t by the nature of the system. How can he lead DCPS when he is saying 1) he is above the system 2) he didn’t pursue the avenues (normal, w/o access) families have in such circumstances 3) he couldn’t put together a proper house-buying/lottery strategy considering 4) he thinks Dunbar is not a reasonable choice. I agree with him on 4, but that makes #3 all the more important. |
|
He sure took a nice shit on Dunbar in that second answer.
He has to go because his credibility with every DCPS parent is shot. |
