Protests on college campuses

If these kids want to protest, then they have every right to do so, there is a big Zionist lobby that has tried to control every opinion and aspect of this conflict since 10/7 and anyone not agreeing with Israel is promptly labeled antisemitic. Frankly, it’s nauseating.

It is their right. But their pro-Hamas protests win no hearts or minds.

The right wingers and administrators who are siccing the cops on them aren’t winning any hearts and minds either.

What's nauseating is when students think they have the right to disrupt a campus and not have to obey the school's administrators. Suspend them, and if they still won't comply, then expel them.

What's more, Columbia and USC are private campuses and the First Amendment right to protest does not apply. I'd give the protestors a little bit more leeway at public schools like UT-Austin (of course, Greg Abbott doesn't).

They do, but I don’t think the Jewish or LGBTQ protestors understand that the people they are defending wouldn’t even have them over for dinner.

My kid absolutely does. But for her, that doesn’t matter. She demands, based on our faith, that all are treated according to our principles. As an example, it is harder to argue against the death penalty if you are faced with a man who has raped and murdered a young mom in front of her traumatized children. But if you do not believe the state has a right to take a citizen’s life as a punishment, then the nature of the crime doesn’t matter. It isn’t easy to live.

She sounds exactly like the sort of protester I’m picturing. UMC bubble child with no real problems.

+ 1. Who cares what she thinks? It is the height of arrogance for Mom to suggest that we should care.

If Americans are prevented from protest and assembly, surely they will voice their displeasure at the ballot box. What a winning election year strategy

Arrogant mom, know-it-all daughter. Go figure.

If these spoiled students and professors are so concerned for Gaza, why don’t they fly over to here and put their boots on the ground and help? Surely that would be more effective than screaming and holding up a cardboard sign on the campuses of their gilded overpriced colleges.

Yes, the MAGAs love to see some uppity kids getting beaten up.

The first amendment does not promise freedom from social consequences if your actions.

That works both ways, maybe all these pro Israeli supporters need to go join the IDF and serve their true country. Pro Israeli people are also trying to influence policy from their gilded overpriced mansions.

I suppose these kids have taken that into account. I means anyone opposing Israel has been threatened with these so called social consequences. It’s a power flex and a tool to control the public opinion.

Some actually have. I don’t see anyone on the other side doing it. Why? Because Gaza is an oppressive conservative sh!thole where all of their lefty woke LGBTQ+ values would be met with bad consequences.

Maybe the pro-Hamas voters here should go sleep in a tent at one of the participating universities instead of whining on a message board from an air conditioned room.

What does Glenn Youngkin have to do with this? And anyone with eyes can watch that video and see the idiot protesters storming through the barricade and assaulting the police. Stupid, stupid people are absolutely getting what they deserve.
