Green wave should diversify their service staff then
Never saw such segregation in my life aside from Champaign-Urbana

Not the Bee’s best. Lame and rude.

Agreed. Sometimes they are very funny. This one kind of stank.

What does the SAT prove exactly? That a child can take a test, many times prepping for it. Do prepped SAT scores prove anything?

Probably need a separate thread but I think the SAT is valuable assessment of fundamental logic and reasoning skills.

Have you seen the SAT? lol

Harvard literally admits black folk with SAT scores lower than the typical student at UMBC

Well, with test-optional now the dominant way to enter college, scores no longer matter.

I would like to see a focus on outcomes from schools - I mean without race now and these same stupid schools find SAT scores racist and some are even implying grades are racist and chatgpt is writing all the essays now - what exactly are schools evaluating on? Might as well put everyone’s name in the powerball popper and admit that way. Or we could take Europes approach of exam scores to determine merit and readiness (gasp! The horror!) and leave all the social engineering out of it. This ruling came too late for my kid but I’m glad it came nonetheless.

I usually like them (and I even support the Scotus decision) but just… no. Not funny.

Great!

We have always told our kids that now that they achieved the best 4.0 uw/4.6 gpa at a rigorous HS, 35 one - 36 the other ACT and varsity sports, president of clubs, tons of community service:

it's basically a lottery at that point for the most selective schools (3-7% acceptance). There are too many kids out there exactly like them (no matter their race). That is easy to digest. What wasn't easy to digest was the neighbor that had one out of 4 hispanic grandparent and is much wealthier than his family and have been in the US generations (early 1900s like ours) was going to get an advantage because he was going to check URM. That is off the table now.

I think that's still on the table, if the wealthy Hispanic kid performs well on the PSAT and gets the National Hispanic Recognition award. That will still be in the application.

Why the jealousy? You said you told your kid it's a lottery. What do you tell your kid now? I bet he has this same rhetoric as you now and thinks this kid "took his place". The do the cutoff and after that point, your kid did not make the cut. They probably did you a favor. You kid likely was not a good fit, especially if they have your attitude.

Sorry, I should have prefaced with "Different Poster." I'm just pointing out that race/ethnicity will not be difficult to insert into an application for the family the other PP was complaining about.

Ah, yes, the vast superiority of all these European universities that are fueling such economic innovation and growth.

Nothing to focus on. The schools will keep doing what they have been doing. From the looks of this thread, they've got one group of people scratching for the door,. They must be doing something right.
