On a serious note, can we do fingerprinting for the SAT and all standardized tests? Can we work more on improving the validity of grades?

Harship from the racism LMFAO

AOs will get sick and tired of reading about it LMAO

It’s really sad. Kids shouldn’t have to expose their pain in an essay.

That is what the essay is for. To help the AOs get to "know" your kid and what they can bring to the school.....HOLISTIC!!

But not exposing pain. Just one sentence in one essay is enough "The reason I made a A- in that one class is because my parents let me be a well rounded kid and allowed me to play team sports, hang out some weekends, go to movies, etc... instead of studying all the time under extreme academic pressure like my Asian friends (who told me what their parents say about people of my race)."

See above table, again Asians achieved very high score on ECs and leadership relative to White studetns and most likely much more than other URMs.
Get your facts straight.

It’s amusing some people think anything will meaningfully change. It’s not like PREPPED test scores and gpas will suddenly rule all.

Fixed that for you.

I never understand just picking on test.

You can bump up GPA with tutoring.
You can spend $$$ for fancy ECs, research activity, private coaches
You can hire professional writerse for essays

In fact, again and agan Aisans had higher scores on almost all factors including ECs, leadership, interview, etc.

+1

Unbelievable. Asians actually think they are the superior race. Remind you of anyone??

How do you say HITLER is Chinese?

Looks like you are new to this. Welcome.
This fact was revealed during the case.
It was part of the reasons for the case because this is a clear indication of Asian kids discriminated.
They didn't just score well on GPA and Test as you can see.

I don't see how you say Hitler in Chinese?

You don't seem to be properly educated.
Care more about education

Got it. Superior race. Yup.

Again it's not race.
It's culture of caring more about education.

I am an African American who spent a few years in Asia and seen it first hand. It is 100% cultural. But it is a double edged sword. Kids who don't make the cut commit suicide. Heck, even businessman who do succeed will commit suicide after making an embarrassing mistake. No Trump families there. Someone who sullies the family name is expected to disappear.

A lot to admire there but... well... it is not healthy and to my eyes kind of "Un-American." Americans truly don't expect people to win by being the best. Americans expect people to win by never quitting.

DCUM is not the place for this kind of discussion

What does the SAT prove exactly? That a child can take a test, many times prepping for it. Do prepped SAT scores prove anything?

I doubt those students can fake QB like Penn match Mackenzie Fierceton…sound very deserving and class should always trump race

Great!

We have always told our kids that now that they achieved the best 4.0 uw/4.6 gpa at a rigorous HS, 35 one - 36 the other ACT and varsity sports, president of clubs, tons of community service:

it's basically a lottery at that point for the most selective schools (3-7% acceptance). There are too many kids out there exactly like them (no matter their race). That is easy to digest. What wasn't easy to digest was the neighbor that had one out of 4 hispanic grandparent and is much wealthier than his family and have been in the US generations (early 1900s like ours) was going to get an advantage because he was going to check URM. That is off the table now.

I think that's still on the table, if the wealthy Hispanic kid performs well on the PSAT and gets the National Hispanic Recognition award. That will still be in the application.

Not impossible to imagine. We will all see.

After research, MIT says GPA and Test together is the best indication of how the student will succeed in colleges.

Probably need a separate thread but I think the SAT is valuable assessment of fundamental logic and reasoning skills.

Why the jealousy? You said you told your kid it's a lottery. What do you tell your kid now? I bet he has this same rhetoric as you now and thinks this kid "took his place". The do the cutoff and after that point, your kid did not make the cut. They probably did you a favor. You kid likely was not a good fit, especially if they have your attitude.
