So many puzzle pieces missing. Maybe, the prosecutor is making a case. Odd that there are no rumors or leaks making its way into the news.

It's probably hard to prove they broke Virginia law. At the time, the only charge that seemed to apply was a misdemeanor related to gun storage, but if they're sticking to their 'it was locked' story and there is no evidence to contradict it, that might not even stick

Isn't the fact that their six year old got his hands on it evidence to contradict their story? It was not adequately stored, period.

If this had happened in nova or dc I’d guess that the parents were diplomats or politically connected somehow.

There was speculation here earlier that they may be military.

"Military" doesn't have any type of clout or influence to get something "hushed" that wouldn't otherwise be hushed.

They never said the kid did not have a key...

Do you want to admit that your child is a sociopath?

This was not a case of an IEP for learning difficulties.

I think a parent can refuse placement, but there must surely be some recourse on the part of the school. Could he school should have gone to court because the child was a danger? I think? they can do that.

But, who, in their right mind with a child like that would have a gun in the house?

I would love to know more about the parents.

I want my kid to get the help he needs before something like this happens. I've never heard of a kid requiring a parent to attend school with him. That sounds really sketchy.

He was taking off his belt to whip other kids at recess. The little monster belongs in a padded cell, not a school

Wonder where he has seen that behavior in order to copy it?

Neverthesless, no matter how he became that way, he did not belong in a regular school.

So, according to this article, the former principal is threatening a counter suit against Ms. Zwerner? Now I’ve seen everything! :

“Mrs. Briana Foster-Newton will vigorously defend any charges brought against her as a part of the lawsuit filed by Ms. Zwerner and respond accordingly.
In addition, we are exploring the possibility of a countersuit as it has been brought to our attention that prior to the shooting,
another student in Ms. Zwerner’s class warned her in class that the six-year-old shooter had a gun and Ms. Zwerner allegedly told the student to sit down and be quiet.
If this is true, Ms.Zwerner may have been able to avoid the injury she suffered and this will certainly impact her claimed damages.”

Jesus Christ. She “may have been able to avoid the injury she suffered”?! Teachers in that whole district should quit. This is Alex Jones level stuff.

That accusation from the AP is ridiculous. It’s clear Zwerner tried repeatedly to make her AP aware of the potential existence of a weapon. If Zwerner dismissed a child’s concerns it’s because it was clear admin had told her to dismiss them herself.

Damn. The AP is trying to cover her A and it's not a good look.

Isn't the AP the one who told the instructional aide that his pockets were "little" (so there wouldn't be a gun?) and that the school day would be over soon?

I think some of you are confusing the AP who resigned from the district and the principal who is still employed by the district.
Anonymous
Yes, the AP dismissed her concerns and said he couldn’t have a gun because his pockets were too little. The principal is now saying, well, she dismissed a child’s concerns and that could have prevented her getting shot. Which overlooks that the message the teacher got from her superior was to let it go.

The former administrator who dismissed the teacher's concerns needs to face jail time.

I agree. I'd like to see the parents and the admin locked up.
