One person lacks common-sense and the whole nation is now traumatized. Preventable crime.

Memphis just isn’t a bunch of statistics. There are many places to run that feel safe even at 4:30!

Random criminals are everywhere.

Such sad white privilege in this thread.

There was those random snipers in the DC metro 20 years ago in some of the “safest” areas.

Weren’t police gathered around where hubby works yesterday. You can see a boat dealership on the left, bordering I-240:

Police are back searching off the same 2 mile section of I-240 interstate today. It’s clear they must have cell phone or OnStar data showing he stopped to dump the body off this interstate.

What I’m surprised by is wasn’t she almost certainly wearing a GPS watch? Every serious runner I know wears one. That alone seems like it would narrow down the search pretty quickly.

The history of crime against women has been such that the BF or DH is always the first suspect, even when a rich woman jogging alone in the dark in a crime ridden city gets kidnapped.

Others need to learn from this. There is zero reason to put yourself in that situation. She may have been a marathon runner but she was also a mother. She should have been more careful and been proactive about her security.

As a childless woman, my life is less valuable so I can run wherever I want.

It doesn’t at all lack common sense to run at that time of the morning. This is pretty common time for a marathoner to get that early morning dopamine hit before the workday. The ignorance about runners on this thread speaks volumes.

If her cell phone was smashed and left behind and the watch may have been tossed too.

Bbbbbuttt this allegedly near where the husband works, so the quick to accuse must think he is guilty.

The same one who are video psychological experts trained on Facebook so it has to be solid!!!

Let us blame the victim. How dare she! She was just asking to get kidnapped. Also, the women in short shorts and showing cleavage, well, they deserved to get rapped too. 🙄

Childless and unmarried? Yea, you can be self-centered and risky if you want — and pretend you can’t just rack miles on a treadmill or on a fitness center track.

My oldest son works in logistics and they advise truckers not to stop in Memphis. It’s THAT bad.

NP - I really had no idea, wow. Is it mostly property crime, or violent crime? (Or both?) And why there ?

Here are a few crime stats for Memphis in 2021:
1. Ranked the No. 1 most dangerous city in US
2. Ranked 2nd highest homicide rate in any US metro area
3. Memphis violent crime was 237% higher than the national average
4. Violent crimes in Memphis are 506% higher than the national average
5. Nearly 250 murders, half unsolved

Husband is a real gentleman for letting his wife run around such a town solo at 4 a.m.

Men do not control adult women. At least not in healthy relationships.

Why do you people keep saying he should have kept her inside, let she was his pet or CHILD?!

Because she’s not single. She’s married. And that means he gets to have an opinion about her activities, just as she gets to have one about his.

Maybe he agreed with it? What does it matter?

A husband has a duty to PROTECT his wife and children from harm. It’s not like he was away on a business trip, he’s a tattooed layabout who is home every morning and watched his wife leave at 4am solo to roam the streets of a war zone with practically no clothes on. The husband is a lowlife.

Okay grandma. I would DIVORCE any man who tried to control where I went, when I went there, and what I wore.

Do you spend as much time railing against male surfers who get eaten by sharks or male bikers who get hit by cars? Or are women the main object of your finger wagging ire when things go wrong?

You know so little about running that you assume a treadmill is a substitute. You're not going to convince runners that they are the same.

Apple maps shows that is the Memphis Boat Center. Which is the boat dealer hubby works at?
Memphis Boat Center, 1920 Watson St, Memphis, TN 38111

Just stop dumping on the husband please. Not everyone is your ex-husband.

Having an opinion or concerns is not the same as control. One of the benefits a husband provides is physical protection when needed. If you take any objection to your behavior as control, then yeah, get divorced. Not all women get married with the expectation that they remain independent, free to do whatever they want, whenever they want.
