That's because so many in other zips got it back in January! 9 cases at a school is nothing compared to 100+ that were at schools the first two weeks of Jan.

Cases are happening in the laptop class areas, whose parents don't have to work in person. The biggest forced child mask fanatics at APS live in 22205 or 22207.

Don't think that's true from what folks are reporting about 22207 schools being comparatively mask free at this point (except for teachers) and remarks here by some 22207 parents against masking their kids further. Go fish.

22207 is the land of APE and the antimaskers (mostly the same people).

I know several families at Nottingham whose kids are currently out with covid. None of them are anti-maskers (although they have very little control over whether their kids wear masks at school now that the mandate is gone).

That's hard with young kids. I feel like APS went overboard with not allowing teachers to say anything about kids wearing masks at all, so teachers can't even remind a little kid to put their mask back on after lunch or recess when they know the parent wants them to wear it.

Under the new law, teachers are not allowed to say anything about masks to a child whose parent has opted them out. This effectively meant teachers could not say anything to anyone, because they have no idea whose parent might have emailed the school in the last hour to opt them out. The schools’ hands were effectively tied by the parent opt-out law.

No, it's forbidden by state law. There's 0 solid studies showing masks work in schools. 0.

You forced mask fanatics are ridiculous, wanting teachers to say things to little kids. Disgusting.

There are two studies that just came out like last week showing that kids who wore masks in school got infected with Covid less. Stop spreading misinformation. Masks work, and though they are not always 100% effective, they (especially KN95s and similar) provide more protection than no masks. Sorry you can not seem to face reality.

2 studies again without control groups. There was a study out of Spain with a control group at the same time - masks made no difference, just like other studies with control groups show.

The AAP study?!? Did you read it? There was more COVID in schools that were masked, so they made up a "secondary transmission rate" number because their study didn't show what they want. That number literally meant there was 1 extra case. And they didn't contract trace in many schools that forced masking, meaning they wouldn't find secondary cases!

You forced child mask fanatics are so desperate for any science to back up your pro-child abuse, anti-science views. The science is not there.

A teacher tries to tell my child that, they and their principal are getting contacted by my husband and I the next day. This forced child masking of little kids in 1 year will be looked with the same disgust that school closures are looked at today (except by the people still pushing forced child masking; they've been consistently wrong and have no credibility).

At this point, these Arlington closed schoolers/forced child maskers are still wanting to forcibly mask children to keep from admitting they were wrong. They have no credibility any longer.

Um, the whole point of that sub-section is that parents can opt-out and then masking rules do not apply to them. Instructing children whose parents have opted them out to put a mask on would violate the law.

Right but the law does not prohibit a teacher from reminding a child to put a mask on when the parents WANT the child to wear a mask. That is what this conversation is about.

Is this real?? I can’t even believe she is still going at it. Why is APS letting her do this?? What’s her background? I thought she was a stationary seller or something

Why are you so offended at someone trying to do something to improve ventilation in school classrooms?

But the teacher doesn’t know if that parent changed their mind and submitted an opt out the teacher isn’t aware of yet. Even if reasonable leeway is given for opt out notices to make it to the teachers, those lists could be changing day by day and you can’t expect the teachers to memorize which of their 23 students have opted into or out of masks. That means every time the teacher sees a kid without a mask on properly, they have to stop what they are doing to check the list before reminding the kid to pull their mask back up of their nose.

What you want was the original plan until the teachers pointed out to the administration that it was not a workable plan for them. Constant list checking would take away instructional time and be very disruptive, and one of them want to get abusive emails and complaints to their admins from parents because they accidentally told a kid to put their mask on after the parent sent in an opt-out. Do you think teachers just sit around twiddling their thumbs all day?

OMG that is literally a box fan on top of I don't even know what. And this is what they think is superior to a professionally installed system?

It is called a Corsi-Rosenthal box. Designed by the dean of engineering at UC Davis and the CEO of TexAir Filters.

Yeah I'm no ventillation woman but it's a well recognized improved ventillation option that is a good thing not a bad thing. Be snooty about it if you like but you're being a jerk.
