Travel Soccer teams around NOVA let's discuss

I'm hearing that Spirit is going further and further down their list of players trying to find anyone who will join their team. At the rate players are turning down their offers. Spirit will end up taking players from Reston on the DA teams.

When four different clubs run away from an organization and other desperate clubs want no part *cough VYS*, it's obvious that there's a problem.

But you keep believing the BS that Hummer keeps spewing.

Why doesn't Spirit know what they are doing? Explain since you have the answers puppet.

Has anybody heard about a pickup soccer game next Monday at South Lakes? I heard a bunch of girls not quite up to FCV and VDA standards will be getting together.

So what does that tell you about the NOVA clubs that formed an alliance and backed out?

Doesn't sound like a Spirit problem to me.

If I were a TD, and Spirit came to me and said please bend over, we're going to take your best talent, slap our brand on it, and use your fields, I guess I'd be a little reluctant to do that. The alternative, I suppose, is continue to work your ass off, and hope your best talent doesn't go across the street while you hopefully build your club's resume. Tough business running a club in this area, you can't get a DA or ECNL berth without producing high level players, and in the meantime, you continue to bleed talent.

The thing is, if you don't have ECNL or DA you are going to lose your top talent anyway.

How about this - have soccer teams and training programs for the kids in your community, have each of those teams play at a suitable level of competition, and ignore all the nonsense?

That is adorable now go back to the Vienna thread.

Who said Spirit did any of that? There you go assuming sh@t. The 4 club alliance attempted to bully spirit and got smacked down. You know why? Because Spirit doesnt have to worry about losing DA. The four clubs that run CCL wanted to run DA. Those 4 clubs will be begging to join Spirit in the future. WATCH

The reality is......why are arguing about this? Spirit has DA. Not Loudoun...not Arlington...not SYA...not BRYC.

This had nothing to do with fields. The DA is 4 teams. That's it! This had to do with the 4 aforementioned clubs. You know why? Because they care about themselves and not your kid. Stop being a fool and protecting these clubs. They don't care about your kid. If you think I'm wrong you haven't been around travel soccer long enough.

Need more be said?

"The clubs wanted to retain control of the program including its curriculum and staffing, something the Spirit is unwilling to agree to. This is never something a professional club would do"

There are plenty of reasons not to go DA or make a deal with the Spirit besides "they don't care about your kid."

These clubs also have hundreds of kids who are not DA.

I'm not saying the decision to spurn the Spirit was right or wrong. I'm saying it's much more complicated than what you're saying here.

I think the bigger point is, not what a family or player decides it is the club role. In many of the cases these clubs want their cake (the cash cow of a rec program and 4-6 travel teams per age group) and to eat it too, ie, having access to opportunities like DA without paying the price for them.

They want to lay claim to be DA without the risks. To these clubs DA is nothing more than a banner on their website for marketing purposes.

You're not only mean-spirited (making fun of 12-16 year old girls...really?!), but you're also misguided if you think there aren't quality players committed to the Spirit DA program. Hope posting crap like that makes you feel better about yourself.

You are exactly 100 percent correct!

Clubs will always look out for their best interest and not your kids. That's why I don't understand this blind loyalty.
