Loudoun does seem to be fraying a bit but dismantled might be a little strong. Seems like the older girls teams might be less affected. Its the layers U12, U13, U14 that would see some of the top flight girls leave. I expect the various Loudoun Red's will still be good next year, but perhaps not as dominant as previous. Its not like teams in any club don't see alot of change every year anyway. Next year, something new will happen that will smush it a different way, favoring another club.

Why would a rising U10, U11 or U12 girl stay at Loudoun over FCV if they have DA ambitions?

Actually I think it was SYA who said no to the DA first, followed by Arlington...though neither made a public statement about it. BRYC announcement to ECNL was then followed by the FCV Loudoun partnership

Though in reality all four of those clubs TD's are tight, they probably all agreed at the same time at one of their CCL meetings...

Just ask your questions.

Ok

How is a Loudoun FCV partnership better then a Loudoun Spirit partnership for Loudoun girls?

Likely Loudoun has more input with FCV regarding player selection and identification.

This may actually be interesting and I wonder what the inside scoop is. Does anyone know who the first mover was on the BRYC-Arlington-Loudoun Spirit DA breakup? It seems that any one of the three of them that was the last mover could have stuck with Spirit and been in a pretty good situation right now.

BRYC - LOUDOUN - ARLINGTON - All founding members of CCL. All broke away from WAGS to have complete control (They really are the ones that caused WAGS downfall).

Spirit didn't let them have their way so they cried and backed out. Spirit threw up the peace sign and said see ya we really don't need ya.

Loudoun approached Spirit on their own and attempted to form a partnership. Loudoun wanted some control. Spirit said no

FCV approached Spirit and attempted to form a partnership. FCV wanted some control. Spirit said no

Loudoun, wet and afraid, formed a partnership with FCV (even though they didn't want to)

FCV really wanted the merger so they could take Loudouns fields and player pools

Sound about right?

Pipeline and SAC merged with Spirit. No drama and no problems. Top notch staff and super talented players. Will be one of the best DA's in the mid-Atlantic. Hands down.

So what does that tell you about the NOVA clubs that formed an alliance and backed out?

Doesn't sound like a Spirit problem to me.

My bet is all the Virginia clubs decided to leave Spirit at the same time as Spirit asked them to pony up $100k+ for the privilege of being affiliated with the Spirit and told them that they (Spirit) would get first rights to their fields. People on how can argue that the clubs were the losers but Spirit VA is the one that had to settle for a rec-level club like Reston.

Unlike Pipeline and SAC, which were second tier clubs in Maryland (behind Bethesda and MD United), the clubs in VA didn't feel the need to join Spirit in order to stay relevant.

That crack must be good

Hummer said that the main obstacle with the board of each Virginia organization was giving Spirit a formal commitment of resources. The clubs wanted to retain control of the program including its curriculum and staffing, something the Spirit is unwilling to agree to. “This is never something a professional club would do given the whole point of having a Development Academy is to create the best possible environment for developing future professional players based on the beliefs of the club's leadership,” said Hummer. “While we value the experience and knowledge of all the partners we considered working with, ultimately we could not sign away final say on curriculum or staffing [as] they were asking us to do.”

Yup, one just ended up with a second tier league and the other ended up being FCV's bitch, but hey they're "relevant" alright.

Spirit is going to run the DA the way they want to run it.

They told the NOVA control freaks to pound sand. GOOD FOR THEM.

You keep telling yourself that Spirit knows what they're doing. I'm hearing that Spirit is going further and further down their list of players trying to find anyone who will join their team. At the rate players are turning down their offers. Spirit will end up taking players from Reston on the DA teams.

When four different clubs run away from an organization and other desperate clubs want no part *cough VYS*, it's obvious that there's a problem.

But you keep believing the BS that Hummer keeps spewing.

I keep looking for that next tryout date but none is listed.
Anonymous
Sorry, late to the party. Do you all ever find that not listing tryout dates is a way coaches sort of manipulate the system? Do they HAVE to list them, or can they just quietly invite last year's players to an evaluation or to rejoin?

I am watching an issue where a date is not posted, and it feels a little fishy.

And you keep pumping out the FCV-Loudoun propaganda.

I didn't see any Spirit coaches at FCV tryouts....but I did see FCV coaches at the Spirit tryouts. Why the insecurities? Why intimidating little kids and their parents? Biggest punk move ever!

The four different clubs you are referring to are in an BS CCL Alliance....and besides BRYC...they all are left with nothing for their females. So congratulations.

And as far as the strength of Spirit teams...does it matter? If the kids play DA level competition and get good training then its all good. Everything will change in a year anyways. Get your foot in the door.
