Makes sense about the age groups. I'm curious to see what FCV decides to do and if they will be invited to ECNL after the dust has settled. |
That may change. There most likely will not be a fall season for soccer this year. Bet both will play spring high school soccer. |

THat worked because they were able to get other boys teams to join - not sure it is true on the girls side. And even so, the boys were still missing some of the better teams in the area, and half of the clubs were simply not that strong. They can improve that model if they work at it. It's the right idea, and now they need to get past the club-based, non-relegation crap that makes ECNL and CCL noncompetitive. |
It just shows how totally messed up the system is with so many different organizations vying for the title of 'elite league'. |
Whatever was said on this Board by Arlington (U12 red-obsessed) haters, we are not with Arlington for the badge but for the quality of coaching and of the competition. Stop with your patronizing, DA was not an obstacle to HS soccer, with many players doing both, even of the second is crap. Enjoy your shiny ECNL badge, South Carolina, and your college scholarship. |
They certainly got competitive games in EDP, They finished towards the bottom of the division. |

I think these are just rankings in MD and VA, not the EDP results. But the general point remains valid. |
And I do not necessarily think finishing near the bottom of a great league or not winning constantly at U13 should matter. It can suggest a longer term approach to development. But the rankings give you a sense of a lot of other clubs that are competitive in the area across numerous leagues, which is why having an open league format with promotion and relegation makes a lot of sense. |
This is pointless. You are either going to be in a MLS academy or you are just playing soccer. The rankings for the boys side are meaningless |
| As part of the training league-wide, most all the U12 pre-academy teams last Fall played "mixed teams" with kids from team 1 and 2 mixed together to give kids different experiences at different positions and with different teammates. This was usually agreed to between the coaches of the various clubs prior to the matches, though sometimes they would do something different (especially when a club basically only had 'one' team's worth of players). Generally, you see this in results where one week a team wins relatively easily and the next week loses to the 'same' team. There was a lot of shuffling going on. The Spring was when the clubs were going to play with a strong team one and a weaker team two, but that fell apart. |
FCV is not going to be invited to the ECNL. It does not matter how well there teams would do. The powers that be know that the players who would otherwise play at FCV will now play at Loudoun (and to a lesser extent other ECNL clubs). |
I think that all but one or so are year are just playing soccer, even in the MLS academies. Get real. Either you are in Europe or Latin America by 15-16 or you are trying to grab a scholarship. I think older rankings are just going to confirm that a lot of teams are competitive with your DA teams, notwithstanding your gibberish. Keep your head in the sand. |

The rankings only matter when it reflects well on them. Now it doesn’t matter they say because those clubs that have a much better record will not be in the super special league and yet they will be no matter how poorly they finish or how often they get beaten. They are the first to sh@t on other clubs not focused on wins below U12. It just happens that stats weren’t in their favor this time. It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out. U12 is the age they start to suffer. U12 pre-da is the current red team. The older former DA teams (U14/15/16) have mostly players that did not play for Arlington U9-U12. They were developed elsewhere. It would have played out that they would bring a lot of new players over when the official DA years start, demote current players and you would see team stats start to improve. Juries out if they will still have kids driving out of their way if they don’t advertise play in an exclusionary league when things start up. |
