DA soccer terminating boys and girls? “Rumors”

I can only speak to Arlington’s pre-DA team, but with 24 kids, 4-6 of whom were rotating guest players from Arlington Red, and 8 of whom who were 09 players, there was a marked talent differential from top to bottom.

I can only speak to Arlington’s pre-DA team, but with 24 kids, 4-6 of whom were rotating guest players from Arlington Red, and 8 of whom who were 09 players, there was a marked talent differential from top to bottom.

Our team has a decent amount of 09 players but finished much higher. Maybe some of those players weren’t ready. Players that play up should be at a matched level not in over their heads.

I haven't heard anyone mention anything about the DPL as a landing spot for the former DA teams. Several clubs nationally already have some of their 2nd tier teams playing in the league. I have heard that all the teams not accepted into the ECNL will just go to the DPL. Is anyone else hearing this?

It was often just how the kids played together. For example one week we saw Bethesda lose to Arlington, but the next week we beat Arlington with only a few player substitutions. Coaches said they didn't really care about win loss at this age but were more interested in seeing how certain kids played with other kids and how the positions shaped up, etc.

Yep, I know of only four 09 players who were regulars on those teams, one of whom played at DCU the previous year and could probably be playing U13 pretty comfortably, but makes sense to have a big squad for two teams and mix them up, especially when a few of the other teams were doing the same. It's so young to assume to segment players so rigidly given the size of that player pool

This would make sense. I have heard that several teams want Arlington in ECNL to raise the level of the boys competition ioncluding the newcomers obviously who are taking a big risk on the boys side themselves, and others (e.g. McLean, BRYC) do not want them in at all - hoping to benefit from Arlington's players, especially girls, moving. So I could totally see the ECNL clubs, as a group, saying "both or none".

And I think Arlington would try very hard to pursue the new MLS league route for the boys before agreeing to that.

I think Arlington is banking on a majority of girls staying even if they play CCL or EDP. They may be willing to take the risk to keep the boys at a higher level. It may work out? I know coaches have all reached out to their teams claiming whatever they decide will be great and just to sit tight. But I also know coaches are contacting players...
