Is it true Arlington Girls got rejected by ECNL yesterday?
Yeah, a parent was on earlier and said they had been told they were rejected. My guess is that with 4 NOVA ECNL clubs that one or more of them blocked adding a 5th.
Heard Arlington told they have to bring both boys and girls if they want ECNL. They don’t want to bring boys. Guess they will sacrifice girls so boys can play in yet another league that will fail in 3 years.
Yep Arlington really does not put the same importance on the girls side. Think Arlington is toast. Mclean will be very happy. It will be rough for any girls living close in. Though ECNL is not really concerned about accessibility or urban participation.
This is not true. You all are crazy and spreading rumors.
Sure the boys u12 pre da(the boys top team at Arlington) is in the EDP. They move the boys to EDP make sure they got competitive games. The girls u12 top team plays the CCL with maybe one or two competitive games a season. Guess the girls did not need competitive games.
THat worked because they were able to get other boys teams to join - not sure it is true on the girls side. And even so, the boys were still missing some of the better teams in the area, and half of the clubs were simply not that strong. They can improve that model if they work at it. It's the right idea, and now they need to get past the club-based, non-relegation crap that makes ECNL and CCL noncompetitive.
They certainly got competitive games in EDP, They finished towards the bottom of the division.
Yeah. Boys U12 EDP Fall season results: U12 Rank Team Score 1 SA OF COLUMBIA PRE ACADEMY BLUE [23] 33.65 2 BETHESDA SC ACADEMY BLUE [44] 33.07 3 BALTIMORE UNION SC ELITE [109] 32.19 4 ST MARYS SOCCER STRIKERS RED [154] 31.83 5 BETHESDA SC ACADEMY WHITE [205] 31.53 6 MSI ACADEMY GREEN [216] 31.51 7 ARUNDEL SA KIN [253] 31.34 8 POTOMAC SA BLUE [289] 31.17 9 COPPERMINE SC PREMIER [308] 31.09 10 TOTAL FC GOLD [450] 30.52 1 ALEXANDRIA SA RED [52] 32.80 2 RICHMOND UNITED BLUE [57] 32.71 3 LOUDOUN SC SOCCER PRE ECNL BLUE [105] 32.23 4 PRINCE WILLIAM SOCCER VDA EAST NPL [115] 32.17 5 LOUDOUN SC SOCCER PRE ECNLBLUE [156] 31.83 6 HERNDON YS AJAX BLACK [174] 31.69 7 RICHMOND UNITED WHITE [266] 31.28 8 VIENNA YS EAGLES [366] 30.84 9 ARLINGTON SA B DA1 [368] 30.84 10 RICHMOND STRIKERS ELITE [372] 30.83
I think these are just rankings in MD and VA, not the EDP results. But the general point remains valid.
And I do not necessarily think finishing near the bottom of a great league or not winning constantly at U13 should matter. It can suggest a longer term approach to development. But the rankings give you a sense of a lot of other clubs that are competitive in the area across numerous leagues, which is why having an open league format with promotion and relegation makes a lot of sense.
