Will anyone from the media ask him this?

This really bothers me. And for the record, I am anti-MAGA and hugely anti-Trump.

Mr. Phillips was quoted as saying:

“There was that moment when I realized I’ve put myself between beast and prey,” Phillips told the Detroit Free-Press. “These young men were beastly and these old black individuals was their prey, and I stood in between them and so they needed their pounds of flesh and they were looking at me for that.”

When I watched the hour long video starting with the nasty things being said by the Black Hebrews, to Native Americans as well as to the white MAGA hat wearing boys, and leading up to Nathan Phillips insinuation of himself into the situation, I did not see feeble old black individuals standing as helpless prey. They were entirely inappropriate and to blame for starting this situation. They were out of control, shouting at everyone.

Nathan Phillips walked right up to the boys, stood and stared, and then moved in closer. Stared. Moved in closer. Stared.

That's not the action of a "peacemaker". He wasn't trying to calm anything down.

Then he said:

“It was getting ugly, and I was thinking: ‘I’ve got to find myself an exit out of this situation and finish my song at the Lincoln Memorial,’ ” Phillips recalled. “I started going that way, and that guy in the hat stood in my way, and we were at an impasse. He just blocked my way and wouldn’t allow me to retreat.”

WATCH the video posted above at the 1:12 mark. The boy in the hat wasn't blocking Mr. Phillips way. Mr. Phillips walked up to him, then advanced, then advanced, and started staring him down. Mr. Phillips approached the boy and the group, and could have just as easily gone a different way.

WATCH the video.

Thank you.
The bolded statement by Phillips is why I doubt his story and his motives.

Another day another narrative debunked. All this jumping in is getting old.

Their "daily lives" will not be normal for a very long time.
The twitter mob has threatened many of them, threatened the school, called employers and colleges, and have threatened others not at all associated with this incident because of incorrect identification. '

One lesson they will likely take away is that the nation's capital is not a welcoming or safe area. When an overreaction like this can happen to a group of teens, their impression of the nation's capital and their memories of this visit will not be positive.

Give me a break. The kid's mom has wished on Twitter that the pioneers had brought more blankets with smallpox. Think about that for a second.

You have fallen for #FakeNews again.

Following multiple viral videos of a confrontation of sorts between Native American elder Nathan Phillips and a group of students from Covington Catholic High School in Washington DC after the Indigenous Peoples Day March, social media users are now targeting Julie Sandmann, the mother of a child seen in the video.
A Twitter account with the handle @GauchoGuacamole began trolling people on Sunday. The name on the account was put as Julie Sandmann, mother of Nicholas Sandmann, before sending out at least two tweets insulting Native Americans and Phillips in specific. Even though the account was found to be a fake and deleted, screenshots and confusion still linger on social media.

Then I happily stand corrected. I’m beyond thrilled if it’s fake because it’s beyond terrible.

And the lib troll who set this account up thought it would be clever to use an obviously racist account name.

But it’s ok, it’s for the greater good, amirite?

Unfortunately, this entire story is fake news. And, it is ruining the lives of some young people.
Social media mobs have taken over. I fear it will get worse.

And meanwhile innocent people’s lives have to deal with the horrific consequences of so many people who rush to judgment, including many here. Shameful.

I read the kid's statement, I watched the CNN piece about it showing the earlier scene with the Hebrew Israelites shouting--a small group of men at some distance from the boys.

The statement is not credible. He says he smiled "at one point" and that he was praying and somehow keeping the peace or something. I just don't buy it. There is no motion in his face, just that smirk that does seem to become more pronounced over time. Behind him, the behavior of the boys is hideous. He could just turn around and tell them to chill. He could withdraw.

And if, in fact, he was sincerely praying and trying to bring peace to the situation, I think he would have been dismayed to learn how what he did was perceived by Mr. Phillips. There is absolutely no sense in his statement that he truly regrets how he made another person feel.

The statement by the school indicates that they saw what most of us did. And they know those boys.

Yeah the kid is an entitled asshat. Someone coached him in this preposterous story so he won’t be expelled. And now he knows how to be a Kavanaugh bastard for the rest of his entitled shi$ life. I’d be ashamed to be his parent. They should have raised him better.

Yet, his explanation lines up with the video.
Your hate will eat you alive.

Explanation does not line up. Read what other witnesses saw and heard.

His smug look said it all. I wish him humility and grace after this show of entitled arrogance.
