And they played MC Elite, which is in free fall according to another thread, and South Coast, last week. Both are outside the top 100. How are they going to test themselves and improve against that level of competition?

Lots of talk in the DMV about it being a good time to move to the "up and coming" Stars program; just not seeing how they are challenging themselves and developing their players after a decent NGLL season where they beat the 14th ranked Sky Walkers, among others.
From our experience is crucial to the development and tournament scheduling strategy, includes registering some tourneys as 5 LOP and others as 4 to be exposed to other teams who might not register as 5, but is still decent. It is also widely known that some clubs will register an A team at a LOP 3 to help with their rankings to pull in the $. For the most part, tourney's do not "police" LOP registrations b/c there is no official ranking system like soccer and since so many tournaments are not USA Lax sanctioned. Go to a club that historically has impact players in HS and success with college recruits. MS development affects HS impact. Look where the top HS players played in MS, it really is the best data. Don't get caught up/confused by rankings and one "team."

There was only one bracket at the IWLCA Cup for 2028s last week. Stars rolled with the schedule handed to them, that included playing #7 team in nation. And at UMD Club day, they played Coppermine, NXT and Skywalkers blue. They arent "hiding".

Pride goes winless again at Lax for the Cure. Have they won a game this summer?

That isn’t as big of a slap in the face as you are trying to make it seem. They are typically in the 2nd highest bracket playing against top 10 teams consistently. Their girls do not shy away from playing against top players and that will benefit them come HS club tryouts, regardless of their record. They are not getting blown out.

Having a DD who is playing for a top D1 program do not worry about wins/losses. What’s most important is playing in the top brackets against the better teams in your DDs class. It’s is important to be competitive in these games so the team continues to get placed in these top brackets.

No one has answered what Stars strategy is. But someone did take a shot at Pride who wasn't even mentioned in the OP's question. That's interesting and maybe telling.

Pride's strategy in scheduling seems pretty clear. Get into the top brackets and play the toughest teams so you can get better.

Nothing to be ashamed of on the W-L side. Losing to Heroes by 2, and having a 4-3 score at half Coppermine at LFTC, is pretty impressive. Playing top 25 competition week in and week out makes a team better.

That is also why Pride will take more of the Capital Blue spots at both the 27 and 28 age group than stars.

27 team for sure Pride has more spots. The 28 team would seem to be more even but with a lot of mixed in players from other clubs too.

I would agree with this, BUT the Pride girls will need to actually try out. The real question is how many of the Pride Red girls will actually try out

If they look at the recruiting track record of Capital, they will be foolish not to tryout.
