Same. I think a lot of people aren't royal watchers aside from "let's see the wedding dress" are hearing the most recent stuff and think Harry's the good guy.

Royal watchers aren't normal and have to accept that the majority of people aren't enthralled by these people the way they are.

The majority of people I have seen online are like me - not royal family watchers or supporters at all but we started seeing Harry and meghan headlines everywhere = both promoting their stuff and reporting on their stuff and started reading and listening to things. I am sure there are a few ardent RF supporters who don't think the RF can do any wrong but I dont give a fig about the RF and Harry comes across as an immature and petty man. I don't really care about Harry and Meghan either but content on them is being shoved in our faces online 24/7. They are digging their own graves.

This is where I am. And it's a shame, because I think the legitimate and important points (racism of British press, inherent difficulties of institutional hierarchies within families) and being buried by all the small-minded petty vindictive stuff. I mean, lip gloss and hug failures? Smdh.

Because to people telling these stories, its not about that. They are making hundreds of millions from their royal connection, their issues are personal grievances. They could've done both but revenge was more important.

Well right, their marketability depends on this particular content. I think most are surprised by the slight nature of most of the complaints and the bizarre story inconsistencies. Obviously it's primarily about money, followed by revenge.

Cold and uptight? Because she minds Meghan (at the time, not a mother) telling Kate that she has “baby brain?” Because, she doesn’t want to be casual BFFs with Meghan who is nice to those she considers her equals but rude to those below her?

I read in one of Kate's profiles that she's a very guarded person who's had a strong circle of friends she's known for many years plus family support, and that's where her safe ground is. She does not make new friends easily or fast. Perhaps Meghan expected they would be fast BFFs who share EVERYTHING, and Kate just wasn't having it, as she preferred to wait and see what this girl is all about. Of course, she was proved entirely right.

As a formerly middleclass person, Kate is probably very scrupulously (because she's aware of constant scrutiny) polite with her staff. All that American ordering around didn't land well.

She's been involved with William since she was a teen and had to watch every step and question everyone's intentions, its probably a part of her personality. One misstep and she becomes media fodder.

Not really. They are online 24/7 right now but give it a week and something else will be there. I don't know these people and they are like any other thing in the media, don't like them, don't care, then click elsewhere, read elsewhere, watch elsewhere. It only takes a second to change over to something else and never see them again.

I can't help but feel secondhand embarrassment for their decisions. I wonder if they just laid low for the next few months...no media interviews, no book releases or social media or podcast or awards ceremony...maybe they could wipe the slate clean a bit? Show up to the coronation with little pomp and circumstance or releases on what she is wearing or what their travel plans are.

I think after this drama, people would be even more interested in watching them at coronation. Its a vulgar reality show. They are doing better than Kardashians.

They were laying low and still posted nasty things about meghan after the Queen's death accusing her of being demanding and all other sorts of drama when she wasnt even there. They make a lot of money with articles about how terrible of a person Meghan is and this will never, ever change. Harry even stated that their of their own press offices will greenlight bad articles about other family members. How/why is this even allowed to happen? Oddly, the american press has no such stories of Meghan being a horrible human either before Harry or now?

Where do you get to assume this was the case? Kate seems like a snobbish prude. Meghan probably didnt care anything about her outside of being a pleasant SIL.

The British tabloids are notoriously vicious, regardless of whatever deals may have been struck with the RF press office, but in fact stories of their ongoing difficulty retaining staff continued in the US.

Are they broke? Does anyone else agree that when a person does a tell all style memoir it’s because they desperately need money and this is like the last bit of themselves they have to give? The next step of desperation would be doing a sex tape. Given that they are/were royals they shouldn’t have had an expiration date on their popularity and need to sell out so badly so soon. I’m guessing that they have been cut off financially by the family and Harry isn’t capable of being a businessman or a consultant even in name only.

Way to sanitize dysfunction as normal. Nothing your husband said is normal, though you think it is .

But you never read anything about Kate being rude to staff, outside of her housekeeper and gardener quitting in the early days because she did too much herself.

Before Harry she was a dime a dozen d list actress nobody cared to write about and now yes, there has been a lot of bad press for her here in America but maybe you are not paying attention to it.

The fact is that M&H are using the mean tabloids and the lack of 'protection' by the palace as one of the reasons they left out of convenience only. The paps were not hounding them. But we cannot really see the protection they did get from the palace because...the stories did not come out. And the stories that did come out were from staff who saw and were affected by her treatment of them.

As we can see from Harry's state of mind with this tell-all, the palace was likely working overtime for years to keep him on the rails.

+1 Especially in this day and time. "Suck it up and move forward" is not encouraged. Sharing every detail of being wronged, mistreated, and misunderstood has become a popular narrative.

Not for 40 somethings. They’re too old for this game.

I must've missed the law that puts an age limit on telling your side of the story.

Agree. I don't understand the sentiment that people who find H&M tiresome and annoying are RF supporters. I admit I like the gossip around the RF, but by no means study or support them. On the other hand, I do get fed up with people who constantly are disgruntled with their lives, seem to think other people owe them, and always place the blame on others. I call my kids out all the time when they start in on the "woe is me" behavior.

Why is anyone disgruntled with THEIR lives a problem or concern of yours ? Unstable much ?

Well before Harry, no one cared who she was so there would have been no press. And there have been articles in the press about her recently- mainly her narcissism (Politico or the Hill?). There is also the not terribly flattering article published last summer from the Cut.
