They are scraping the barrel of grievances, we’re at lipgloss level now.

LOL! That was a weird thing to include....I don't know a single 40 year old woman who would ask to borrow lip gloss from another woman.

A lot of the little stories that they shared in the Netflix doc and in the book make me think Meghan does this stuff on purpose. "I hug!" "I wear ripped jeans!" "I talk to my girlfriends like this!"......just feels like she purposely tried to push the envelope to create some narrative of stuffy Brit vs. cool American.

I wonder if the palace is breathing a sigh of relief. They are going to come out winners in all this now that people are seeing what they were dealing with. They don't need to even say anything. The books speaks volumes about Harry, and not in the way he probably hoped.

+1 Having worked in middle schools for many years, the complaints and stories about lip gloss and circumcision and falling on a dog bowl sound very familiar to those of that age group.

He sounds like a classic case of arrested development. His mother's death came at the worst possible time. Maybe William, being a bit older, was better able to move forward.

PP here. Good points. I agree. I also think it's problematic that he's married to a person who also comes from a dysfunctional family. They're ramping up each other's insecurities and emotions.

Yup. It seems they are unintentionally toxic for each other.

It seems Harry just did more to put his family in danger by antagonizing the Taliban than anyone else ever has. He is so thick.

I used to be very sympathetic to H&M. Would defend them to anyone who criticized them. But over the last 2 years I'm just getting really weary of how they come across. It's a slow drip drip drip of never ending controversy and continued lack of self awareness. When I read that M had compared Africa's reaction to her wedding to Nelson Mandala I was done.

The RF sycophants on here are hilarious as well as ignorant of all of the things that family has done that are self-serving, racist, hateful, vindictive to members of their own family. It's laughable, actually. H and M's treatment fits that pattern and is why I believe it. Good for them for giving them the middle finger.

Same. I think a lot of people aren't royal watchers aside from "let's see the wedding dress" are hearing the most recent stuff and think Harry's the good guy.

Royal watchers aren't normal and have to accept that the majority of people aren't enthralled by these people the way they are.

The majority of people I have seen online are like me - not royal family watchers or supporters at all but we started seeing Harry and meghan headlines everywhere = both promoting their stuff and reporting on their stuff and started reading and listening to things. I am sure there are a few ardent RF supporters who don't think the RF can do any wrong but I dont give a fig about the RF and Harry comes across as an immature and petty man. I don't really care about Harry and Meghan either but content on them is being shoved in our faces online 24/7. They are digging their own graves.

Not really. They are online 24/7 right now but give it a week and something else will be there. I don't know these people and they are like any other thing in the media, don't like them, don't care, then click elsewhere, read elsewhere, watch elsewhere. It only takes a second to change over to something else and never see them again.

They are a current event so I am reading about them. I visit the same 5-6 sites daily and have for years. I am not going to find all new news and online sources because of a news topic. In a few weeks or months or whever they fade into oblivion and stop being headlines, I won't post about them or know anything about them but right now they are a current event and in all the headlines so it draws me and others in. I often am interested in current events even when I have no personal investment in the people or situation. If there is a lot of content on something, I get into it for the short time it is front and center on the sites I visit.

They are scraping the barrel of grievances, we’re at lipgloss level now.

William would have been protected and coddled because of his position as heir to the throne. Everyone keeps equating their positions in life, but they’re nothing the same. Even look at something as small as the picture released a few years ago of the Queen, Charles, William, and George. That’s the line. Once George was born, Harry’s place became insignificant. You can’t tell me that, especially after losing the mother he was very close to, that it doesn’t sting that you are reminded quite publicly that you’re part of the family, but not really.

The spares always end up messed up - Princess Margaret, Prince Andrew, etc. Their whole life exists and is designed to serve and protect their older, more important sibling, and their own wants and needs are secondary.

It is only insignificant with regard to the crown. You can still have a fulfilling, luxurious life as a supporting actor with every possible perk PLUS the peace and quiet.

You still have some accountability as compared to being a celebrity prince in Hollywood making money from telling family secrets and doing fluff charity work.

This is where I am. And it's a shame, because I think the legitimate and important points (racism of British press, inherent difficulties of institutional hierarchies within families) and being buried by all the small-minded petty vindictive stuff. I mean, lip gloss and hug failures? Smdh.

Because to people telling these stories, its not about that. They are making hundreds of millions from their royal connection, their issues are personal grievances. They could've done both but revenge was more important.

It would be nice if whole drama somehow shifted to highlight damage done by colonialism to generations and generations of humans, instead of what Kate and Meghan did to each other.

I can't help but feel secondhand embarrassment for their decisions. I wonder if they just laid low for the next few months...no media interviews, no book releases or social media or podcast or awards ceremony...maybe they could wipe the slate clean a bit? Show up to the coronation with little pomp and circumstance or releases on what she is wearing or what their travel plans are.

Cold and uptight? Because she minds Meghan (at the time, not a mother) telling Kate that she has “baby brain?” Because, she doesn’t want to be casual BFFs with Meghan who is nice to those she considers her equals but rude to those below her?

I think after this drama, people would be even more interested in watching them at coronation. Its a vulgar reality show. They are doing better than Kardashians.

Hilarious!

My husband's reaction to the news about the fight was, "They're brothers, of course they have fights. I had worse-sounding fights with my brother and we get along fine."

Its only human of Meghan to have insecurities and trying to elevate herself by being nonchalant barefoot, ripped jean wearing hippie hugger who is above worldly classism.

Its only human of Kate to be threatened by cool American actress who is currently a romantic lead in a real life global fairytale. She was rightfully skeptical in becoming BFF without knowing new relative and her intentions and time proved her right.

Husband and two young adult boys agreed.

Then I asked my husband if he'd hit his twin for bad mouthing me. He said he hadn't yet, but would consider it. Again they get along, but brothers are like that sometimes.
