There are a vanishingly small number of health conditions that make the vaccines contraindicated. The unvaccinated/unboosted are overwhelmingly antivaxxers- either antivaxxers in general, or antivaxxers regarding the Covid vaccine specifically. I really don’t feel sorry for any of them that get sick.

Everyone in politics doesn't wear a mask when the cameras are off. I work in a industry where the executives and other talent don't wear masks but the lower level employees do. Clearly the people in charge know something about blowing off mask wearing once you're vaccinated.

Same in medicine. They all stopped wearing masks during provider meetings early this year, and never went back.

Do you know why the lower level people wear masks? Because we don't have the money or status to defend preferential treatment if we get really sick, by some unfortunate chance.

Doctors and higher level executives know they will be more likely to survive than us poor smucks.

So don't wear masks all you want to, and especially don't wear them in pharmacies and grocery stores, and then have the mask mandate slapped back on when cases go up. Smh.

The mask mandate is already coming back despite very few people actually giving them up. The mandate has almost no effect on case rates, and even less on hospitalizations and deaths. Get vaccinated and move on with your lives. At least Stoddard and the council acknowledged that it is time to move past looking at case rates.

Much like the doctors and politicians I don’t wear one anymore. But I didn’t when the mandate came back and no one ever bothered me about it and, given my vaccination status and top 1 percent health, I didn’t fear getting sick.

A minuscule dip. The mask mandate is coming back.

Not if -16 new cases are reported tomorrow.

You can do negative new cases, right?

Looks like Prince George's county now has a lower case rate even though its vaccination rate is lower. What is the difference between Montgomery and Prince George's counties?

Indeed. Montgomery County is doing a lot more testing. 5204 tests/week per 100,000 residents compared to 3758 tests/week per 100,000 residents in Prince George's County. Accordingly, their test positivity is 46% higher- 2.36% compared to 1.62% in MoCo.

I assume those are the differences you were alluding to.

They've both been testing at similar rates throughout the pandemic. The case rate in PG is falling. The case rate (and the positivity rate) is going up in Montgomery County. I know someone once said if you test more you get more cases, but this is not that.

PG County has fallen behind on testing. MoCo's case numbers have plateaued, staying close to what they were when the mask mandate was lifted on the 28th.

No, they aren't even wearing masks in public. Look at Biden and many of those folks. The difference is everyone around them is getting tested daily or before meeting him.

Many people are testing at home or not testing if the symptoms aren't bad. So, we really don't have accurate numbers. I'd home test except our insurance does the covid and flu at the same time and I want it identified and if we need medications to get it easily.

Are you referring to lower income demographics as antivaxxers? Based on statistics, that’s the group we should be more concerned about (similar to how there’s a huge fear of sharks when jellyfish result in more human fatalities):

In any case, it seems we’re a day removed from 7 consecutive days of substantial transmission, which I believe we can all agree is unfortunate.

Sigh, yes it is.

I'm afraid all the people who ripped their masks off and started wandering through pharmacies and grocery stories didn't have the immune system they thought they had.

Its NOT coming back. MoCo will just change the criteria.

You are fine to move on with your life but many of us would prefer not to get covid and take the risk.

Enough with the anti-vaxxer non-sense. Most people are vaccinated. The spread is equally to blame on vaccinated and unvaccinated. Behavior is as important as vaccines. We need both to beat this, which is why we never will.

You've said that on quite a few threads (assuming you're the same poster).

What makes you say that? Besides Freidson, none of the county councilmembers have shown any enthusiasm to get rid of the masks. What makes you think they will mobilize in the next 24 hours to change the rules?
