Masks are not a huge deal to me. But it is an inconvenience, and when community spread is low, so are the benefits.
For the immunocompromised, I suggest an N99. A very good mask offers a lot of protection to the wearer. You have to live with some risk, always. |
This is an important statistic. We need to take account of eg mental health impacts of mask wearing. |
Is this what you tell yourself to justify your poor behavior? A few kids just died in Virginia? Why don't you tell that to the parent who had to bury their child because someone selfish sent their sick kid into school, where she caught covid and quickly died due to poor medical care. Just because no kids have died here, yet, doesn't mean it cannot happen. Wearing masks save lives. Its been been proven. |
If your child or you are so fragile that you cannot wear a mask, stay home. MCPS offers a virtual academy. |
Spread is low partly because of masking. |
No one cares if you want to wear a mask for the rest of your life. I, myself, don't get sick all the time when I'm not wearing a mask. |
I legit don’t understand this. If you are vaccinated, what is the issue? If you feel you must, why can’t you wear a mask? Have people forgotten that we existed before Covid? Have people forgotten that there are other illnesses other than Covid? A sterile bubble isn’t possible or ideal. |
I really think some people are completely ignoring the actual numerical risk associated with COVID. I also have a hard time understanding some of the fear associated with COVID, especially after being vaccinated. |
Look at the county Covid positives. Many are vaccinated. You can still get and spread Covid. |
Colds and flu have not killed people like Covid. Be grateful for your your health. Not all are as fortunate as you. Must be nice to stop caring about others. Some of us actually care. |
Me, me, me. |
Correct. Expecting everyone to go on wearing masks forever because have zero understanding o health statistics/risk management and have mental health problems due to anxiety is extremely narcissistic behavior. |
Wearing a mask protects others from you, but doesn’t provide you much protection from others. Vaccines are great, but not foolproof, and their protection apparently wanes over time. Whether a risk is acceptable probably depends on an individual’s health, family situation, and general tolerance for risk. However, especially considering COVID is so new that we’re still learning about it and that it continues to evolve, I wouldn’t say the risk is negligible. |

I’m so happy to hear that! I’m temporarily working in Canada and people here pretend that vaccines don’t matter at all. I wear a mask for whole day in a fully vaccinated office with two bachelors.
I mentioned that my back home country is taking masks off and was told that “you won’t see me without a mask for a long time to come.” At this point I had enough of the hysteria here and said “ I am vaccinated.” To which I got the same answer we see here “you can still get it and get somewhat sick.” My answer: “ yes I know, but nobody ever cared before and as kids will be vaccinated soon, I don’t care if I get cold like Covid” I’m done with this science denying, particularly when I witness everyday that they use it not to work. They still “quarantine”paperwork!! When I pointed out that I bring the paperwork and don’t have to isolate, I was told that I am vaccinated and the mail is not. But mail also can’t breathe on you!!! I don’t care if I get sick a little. Bcs I believe in science and I am not prone to giving into hysteria!! |
