So Grady year for the older players is best for college scouts and players to compete with kids within their same graduating class at Showcases.

The rationale is even with holdbacks or potential kids who started late such as summer birth months.

At the highest youth level an 18 year old should be able to compete with 19 year olds
As seniors and 17 year olds should be able to compete with 18 year olds.
If you’re 20 you will be ineligible to compete in ECNL youth showcases.

Also ncaa and us soccer merger will make it so college is only for students ages 17-24. With up to 5 years of eligibility. No additional medical redshirts or things like that.

This will help with all the foreign born players taking roster spots and prevent hold back issues at the youth level because you will lose years of college eligibility if you’re too old.

I like the 24 year old age limit.

If what you wrote was implemented immediately youth soccer would have 16 year old "freshman" (held back 2 years in 8th grade typically for sports) playing against 14 year olds.

It would be a HUGE drop in club participation because players would clearly see that teams dont matter playing down 2 years does. Why go though all the effort and pay the big fees if you're not planning to play down.

Also private schools would be in alignement with club soccer and would take over the college recruitment pathway from clubs by offering scholarships + fielding all the best players in an area.

Soccer is changing for youth and college to be more aligned and get more Americans to college and playing longer.

From what I heard this would not affect sophomores and Freshman at the club level. So even if you’re a hold back you would play with your Aug to July age group until your junior year.

Thats how things are now and why theres a u18/u19 group that already exists.

I wish people would learn more about GY before they post wild nonsense. No club leagues arent changing to GY. Yes leagues are changing from BY to SY by doing so 99% of the players on the field during games will be the same grade. (If you include Aug birthdays playjng up)

High School soccer with the Computer Science teacher doubling as the Varsity soccer coach will take over from the MLS Next pipeline to college soccer.

Makes a lot of sense.

Yes that is exactly what college coaches will say.

"Wait, is this Sophmore playing against Freshman?"

Once this is discovered you go to the end of the list of all other Sophmores that are playing against Sophmores they can recruit.
Too ridiculous. College coaches can evaluate talent irregardless of who recruits are playing with or against. It's like saying kids from bad teams can't get recruited.

Lots of doomsday speculation. It's ok, it's just showcases going graduation year. They still have age groups based on birthdays.

The more you point out how ridiculous and ludicrous his comments, the more he tries to top it with something even more asinine

Very few competitive August kids are going to play up, just increases chance to play in college to play on age. Some Sept-Dec will play up, bunch of May-July went to school late. Probably 1in 8 in SY will be in different grades than other players.

So today, you're saying the January kids who are physically, mentally and skilled enough and playing up are at a disadvantage for getting into a college soccer program?
But average January kids playing on age have a stronger chance?

At what time does the asylum end internet access?

FYI, you are confused because you are trying to intermix comparisons of static and dynamic groups, in a nut shell you are bungling correlation and causation. An easy way to stop your wrong way of thinking is to ask yourself but for the xxx what would the outcome be.
