Prince Philip has died...

That's what Charles said to tamper down the fury at him marrying her. As been made clear with the HRH/Archie debacle, a King can do what a King wants.

The official procession has been announced. It includes these people and surprise - a PPO. I'm guessing its Prince Phillip Personal Protection Officer. As well as Prince Phillip's Private Secretary. 'Sir Tim Laurence' is Anne's husband. David-Armstrong Jones is Princess Margaret's son.

They've also confirmed an earlier guess that the Yorks, Kents, Margaret's Children, and Gloucesters will attend. But not Princess Michael of Kent or Edwards'/Williams'/Tindalls children.

Minus the Archbishop that's 30 exactly.

There's conflicting reports that Lady Sarah Chatto is bringing her husband, the husband of the late Princess Margaret, AND Edwards' kids are still coming. They've also added a representative of the Mountbatten family - Penny Countess of Mountbatten. So...that's over the 30 person limit and doesn't include the fact that they've included 2 of Phillips pages and 2 of Phillips valets.

I am surprised by this as well. It seems borderline disrespectful.

He has a large family. I don't think it's disrespectful given that they were likely not close.

I'll be highly amused if they had Boris step down, so Penny could step in.

Did your father’s girlfriends come to his funeral?

Then why would you suppose that the Countess Mountbatten of Burma and Steward of Wormsley Hall would attend Prince Philip’s funeral?

My grandfather’s girlfriend did not.

But he wasn’t dating his grand-niece in-law. The Countess’ estranged husband is the head of the Mountbatten family. I guess he could show up without her though.

Your grandmother must have been relieved that your grandfather's girlfriend did not come to the wedding. They said their good byes in private as they conducted their affair.

Why do you not think Prince Philip would do the same with Mrs. Wormsley?

Because as we all know - she's both family and the affair. I'm just curious if the royals are inviting any of Phillip's family who aren't his direct descendants to the funeral. In which case it would either be the father's side (Greek royals) or mother's side (Mountbatten).

According to Britain's caste system the head of the family would be invited unless there's a medical complication. And I assure you Lord Knatchbull is about as healthy as Charles and able to attend.

OH MY GOD.

Its been reported that the COUNTESS MOUNTBATTEN OF BURMA is on the official guest list of 30.

That's PENNY. The mistress. The affair. The girlfriend. WTF. Her husband (Phillip's actual grand-nephew) is not invited. Unbelievable.

According to CNN the Dukes of Kent and Gloucester will attend without their wives. Updated. And Phillips pages, valets and PPO are...IDK not mourners.

I'm kind of still astonished that I was right.

+1
Elizabeth’s own mother was titled Queen.

If it’s cool with Elizabeth why are you getting your knickers in a twist?

I think its funny and also ironic. The royals have really taken a rod to Diana, Meghan, even Fergie. Meanwhile the Queen's husband was having a 30-year affair with an in-law while creating his own special home with her.

I really look forward to how the royal 'biographers' twist this one.

I'm more convinced that ever that the royals were mad at William because they love their mistresses like he loves his wife.

Sorry I meant Harry.

I'm not sure why you're getting hysterical about this. Penny is a close friend of both the Queen and Prince Philip; she has been invited to multiple, multiple, multiple BRF events sans husband. I mean if she can come to the balcony for the Trooping of Colors, she can definitely come to the funeral! The Queen isn't scandalized - why are you?
