6 of the freshman play with the JV/Varsity teams, the rest are from the frosh team but dress for Varisty

Does the entire freshman team "dress for Varsity"?

No, the rest of the freshman don’t.

So out of an entire freshman team, 13 get the special advantage of being listed on the "Varsity' roster and dress for Varsity games and of those 13, 6 get to play for JV/Varsity.

I bet all 13 of those kids are transfers or play for Overton's private football program.

13 get the privilege because they show they are worthy of practicing with the JV and Varsity team, they are just much better than everyone else on Freshman, if you played football in High school you would understand. 3 of the 6 are transfers. The 10 others are “real” Hayfield kids.

How many play for his private football program?
How do you know if a freshman is a transfer or not? They wouldn't be on a roster from anywhere else last year.

Only a few play for his 7on7 team, his “football program” is like a training organization, if you’re familiar with First Down Performance it’s similar to that. I know if a freshman is a transfer or not because I have a son on the Varsity team. Additionally, most of the transfers end up being on the JV and Varsity squads instead of Freshman.

So someone pays him for private training and he promises to put their kid up on Varsity on the public high school team......How is that ethical?

Don’t other public school football and basketball coaches do this? I wonder how prevalent of a practice it is.

My kids played three different sporst in HS and no, none of their coaches did this. No idea how prevalent it is otherwise, but obviously it goes without saying that its highly unethical to promise a kid a Varsity position on a public school team if the family pays your for private lessons. I mean, come on, does anyone think that is ok?

Or worse, tells a family their kid WON'T be on varsity a

t a public school! or won't play if they don't PAY him for private training. Gross.

Homeless kids don’t pay for private training.

"Homeless" kids in fact, do, on this team.

I hope he’ll provide an update on his broadcast tonight. He is the only reporter reporting on this story. So he’s got the inside scoop.

Well, considering his first "reporting" consisted of texting Overton, repeating his denial verbatim, and not doing any follow-ups with VHSL or FCPS or even the Coach, I am not optimistic he will be getting to the truth of the matter.

FCPS called a parent meeting and then refused to actually answer questions so...don't expect any information from them. I doubt they would either confirm or deny any letters from VHSL.

Agree. He didn't even report on whether there was in fact a letter from VHSL. Journalism 101.

All you nosey mf’s will find out soon enough. They playoffs are just a couple weeks away.

So is the coach denying that VHSL sent the letter banning them from planning?
Anonymous
Still no actual letter but it is implied in the article that VHSL conducted their own residency investigation after FCPS failed to conduct a proper one.

Banned from 2024 and 2025 post-seasons, what is that usually the penalty for doing?

its weird not to have to forfeit any regular season games though

No way is that appeal going to overturn anything. VHSL is very lackadaisical so when they decide to bring the hammer down, the violations are BAD and their evidence is thorough.
Anonymous
2 years! Wow.

So Reid claimed FCPS put hundreds of hours into verifying residency and VHSL didn't trust their "work" and did their own?

BREAKING: After the Virginia High School League (VHSL) conducted its own investigation, they found explicit evidence of Hayfield High School football cheating (shocker) and have subsequently BANNED them from the playoffs indefinitely,

The apostle and the vocal Facebook moms have not updated. I’m looking forward to their reasoned perspectives.
