This is correct. The poster seems to have multiple personalities.

$109k is serious money--and that's just one year. And it's money people pay for their CHILDREN to get some benefit out of. And they broke the rules. And it seems pretty open and shut--shouldn't take long to unravel his one.

Imagine how many baseball bats they could buy with that money? Or competent umpires? Or, and this is wild, I know, but actual coaches!

109k wouldn’t pay the costs to the AG (taxpayers) to recover the money.

You all are so smart, figure it out yourselves. The AG has bigger fish.

The point wouldn't be about the money; it would be deterrence value.

If you sit on a board, you have a duty to make sure the organization follows the law as well as it's own rules.

There should be a consequence to exploiting volunteer positions in this type of organization.

Murder cases aren’t profitable either. That’s not what they take cases based on.

Maybe in your world enriching yourself improperly with money from children’s organizations isn’t a big deal, but for the rest of us it’s pretty despicable.

In 2019, $109k or about 2/3 of the NWLL budget was paid to five board members!!!!! NWLL constitution forbids payment to voting board members!

This seems like a pretty easy thing to sort out - did they get paid or not?

If yes it seems obvious they have to go. Repay the money, cooperate with investigation. Gut the board, start from scratch.

If no, an investigation, probably by the AG, to determine where that money went and why it was mislabeled as going to Ricky and other board members.

It’s a simple yes or no, and either answer (wrongdoing or financial mismanagement) seems like it’s end of the line for the current board.

Is there any other league that pays their All Star coach? I’ve never heard of such a thing in LL.

Lots of prosecutorial discretion on how to spend limited resources. You think those resources should be spent on prosecuting people who shoot children or settling this minor dispute among baseball dads? You want redress? Put your money where your mouths are and sue them.

Agree. Spare us the sanctimoniousness about protecting children. Who sent out the memo with all their names? Seems obvious this is about Mike Klisch wanting to coach the summer 12u team, not some crusade for justice.

At least if Mike Klisch were to want to coach the summer 12u team, there would be logic for it.

Why has Ricky Davenport been cling g to the role for years? Power? Money? It's not that people are begging him to do it.

Maybe take a secret ballot on who the parents want next summer? Would not want Mike coaching my kid for many reasons, including aptitude.

Laughed at email from Klisch/Sweeney about paying college kid $2500 to help coach summer team (partly for out of state travel). Anyone google average partner salaries at Cooley and DLA Piper? #transparency 😄

What does lawyer pay have to do with an non-profit organization paying people it's not supposed to pay?

I paid NWLL registration fees for years, and I certainly don't make Big Law money. That was my money, too, that was paid to insiders.

Because most LL coaches are phenomenal players and MLB-level coaches.

Ok, then since it doesn’t matter, and if this isn’t really about 12u coaching, I’m sure Mike will gladly step aside. Thanks.

I mean, it's not like Davenport has been a stellar coach, and he is demonstrably unwilling to step aside...

Cannot be Klisch with all his baggage.

I can’t believe this is still a topic getting comments.

FYI: this nonsense or similar occurs in nearly EVERY little league around the country. Yes, really.

It is why everyone moves to travel/club. Still crazy indeed- 100%- but at least you get to choose which TYPE of crazy you can tolerate. Also- you can move teams pretty much whenever you like. 10 out of 10 recommend. Wised up by the time kid #2 was of age.
