Suggest a slight alteration to your good and obvious plan ... Keep Sweeney, dont believe she has a kid involved and seemingly she just wants to look at the books as is her fiduciary responsibility as a Board member. (And she's a lawyer it looks like so she understands that responsibility.)

Might actually make her the Northwest president for a year, turn the whole place over with her the sole member staying for archival continuity. Then elect a new president in one year. Also set two-year max terms, with no repeats, for at least the next 6-8 years. Whatever the case, current folks who cheated, covered it up, and refuse to share financials, need to go. Posthaste. It is simply astounding they seem to be still clinging to their "power" on a volunteer board for the littles. It's also very odd.

Does anyone know exactly how the NWLL Board is elected? The (unusual) email we received yesterday from Klisch and Erin mentioned something about committees. . .I looked through the NWLL website, and the Constitution (plus bylaws?) seems to say that the Board "may appoint a Nominating Committee" that determines who is on the "slate of candidates" to be voted upon by the members in December???

I don't remember hearing this in the past, but in light of the current mess, this sounds absolutely crazy: the Board picks the only approved candidates for the Board election, which is then put forward for a vote of the NWLL members? Has anyone not on the Board's approved slate ever been elected?

I recall Ricky asserted something in that 9/10 meeting that sounded odd at the time--like that he didn't pick the Board--and the email yesterday said something about Ricky being on the "2024 Nominating Committee", which I'd assumed was just for officers once the Board was elected. Does this mean that Ricky is on Committee that chooses the exclusive list of Board candidates who appear on the ballot? How many people are on this committee now (and also, how many in the past???).

If the Board picks the candidates allowed on the ballot, and no outsiders appear on the ballot (but maybe assuming write-ins are ok?), then how possibly would anyone have any confidence that the members of the board would be beholden to the league families? They pick themselves?!?!?

Here's a link to the league's Constitution, if anyone wants to try to figure this out:

Exactly, hence the incestuous relationships that are totally partial FOR SURE!

Incestuous relationships…demonic talk

Demonic talk? What the hell kind of ignorant comment is that. Is this sarcasm?

When people point out cheating and misappropriation of funds, you call that bullying? Please explain the payments made to "volunteers". Now.

For 43 pages posters have been telling us to move on, yet not only does the story not go away, it keeps getting bigger.

I guess the post you’re responding to is what people when they can’t think of any remotely plausible sounding defense for their conduct. I love the “one-sided” comment that somehow also doesn’t include any indication of what the other side would be.

+1

Their responses are unhinged. I hate giving money to people I don’t trust so my kids can participate in a sport we love.

I would consider a lawsuit for the comment about safesport. That is beyond mudslinging. These people know they are caught and are trying to deflect as much as they can.

The whatsboutisms are meaningless as a defense. Telling too…a good defense choice when there isn’t one. Goes right up there with the stonewalling and gaslighting.

One of the crazy things to me is the circling of the wagons attempt to deny everything and discredit any idea of wrongdoing. That’s because I think it’s a small number of individuals that have been in the wrong—at least originally. As a group—poor oversight and safeguards and too much willingness to let too much slide. But I don’t imagine it as a cabal of evildoers set up to run a LL in the worst ways.

But that’s turned into a group of apologists more committed to denying the plain truth and protecting those that have been in the wrong then rather than recognizing what’s wrong and disavowing it. That’s become the collective priority and it’s staggering.

This thread seems interesting but can someone post a synopsis of what is going on,
I am not interested enough to ease through every past post.

No. I'm not interested enough in your minimal interest to bother.

New email drop!

In 2019, $109k or about 2/3 of the NWLL budget was paid to five board members!!!!! NWLL constitution forbids payment to voting board members!

This seems like a pretty easy thing to sort out - did they get paid or not?

If yes it seems obvious they have to go. Repay the money, cooperate with investigation. Gut the board, start from scratch.

If no, an investigation, probably by the AG, to determine where that money went and why it was mislabeled as going to Ricky and other board members.

It’s a simple yes or no, and either answer (wrongdoing or financial mismanagement) seems like it’s end of the line for the current board.

Wow. With all the AG has going on, you want them to waste time and resources on your little daddy ball mess?

$109k is serious money--and that's just one year. And it's money people pay for their CHILDREN to get some benefit out of. And they broke the rules. And it seems pretty open and shut--shouldn't take long to unravel his one.

Imagine how many baseball bats they could buy with that money? Or competent umpires? Or, and this is wild, I know, but actual coaches!

109k wouldn’t pay the costs to the AG (taxpayers) to recover the money.

You all are so smart, figure it out yourselves. The AG has bigger fish.
