We worked together about 3 months and he was a scary dude. He was definitely mentally unstable and would throw adult temper tantrums if a job didn't go his way, and threaten anybody who disagreed with him. He seemed stuck in his childhood days...always talking about pot, fights he got in, etc. I stayed away... but when I heard this story I was not shocked at all that this is how he went out.

I love how everybody just glossed over this guy's post because it doesn't fit your narrative.

I think the nanny leaving and coming back and the discussion about the 13 minutes between 911 calls is the hot topic right now

I don’t understand why this doesn’t fit what the nanny and husband said. The first call is the beginning of the incident and then it gets disconnected for whatever reason (running for safety, who knows) and then the second call is when it’s all over.
it took the husband 13 minutes to shoot the man stabbing his wife?

it took 13 minutes to hope Christine was past surviving, and to clean up a little after killing two people. They didn't need to change their clothes they can say they were trying to save her or whatever, they just needed to make sure Joe was dead, and likely thought she was dead also before calling 911. It sure doesn't take 13 minutes to shoot someone and then dial 911.

This just makes no sense. If they killed her, and believed they could stage the scene, the most efficient way to “hope she was past surviving” would be to just stab her more. Sitting there waiting would make no sense. There’s just no scenario where the one or two survivors kill both and stage it. It makes no sense. That doesn’t mean they’re innocent but what you’re describing doesn’t make sense.

All this speculation and in particular likely irrelevant impressions of people’s personalities is why we have trials with actual evidence and cross examination.

Theres way too little in the public domain to stitch this together.

I’m voting Occam’s razor but time will tell.

I am not but I did see it. It’s basically the same stuff that was posted on Reddit. Websleuths is strict about validating your account so that’s why the likely pulled it. (Friend of Joe did not validate the account).

Is what was posted on Reddit different than what was posted here? If so, link? Or is it a locked Reddit sub now?

I know none of these people, but am a long time DCUM poster and like true crime, so have followed this thread with interest. I agree with everyone who says the time lag here is not normal and so it means the police don’t see this as straightforward self-defense. That said, if this was a consensual cuckhold situation, and the murder wasn’t premeditated, either man could have snapped for whatever reason. If this proves to be premeditated (and I’m sure the police have some idea on this point based on where the weapons came from, etc), then obviously the husband is the more likely suspect. The AP calls x 2 + still being there is *very* weird and anyone not admitting that is kidding themselves. No matter how much you love a family, the average AP doesn’t not stay post a suspicious death/during an ongoing police investigation. This is only a max 2 year gig anyway!

I have a screenshot, here's what it said

"I have known the guy who got shot (Joe Ryan) since he was 8yo. I am not unbiased? But he wouldn't and never has hurt a fly. No
record. Ever. Sweetest kid imaginable.
Here's what I know:
Joe had an unconventional social life. He met this couple recently online, and Joe entered into a "cuckold" relationship with
them. Meaning, they all three agreed he would have sex with the deceased woman.
The wires must have gotten crossed, however. Because on the day Joe was shot and the woman stabbed? Joe arrived at the house,
where he had been before, to have sex with the woman shortly after the man left for work. And the au pair "helpfully" called the
husband to let him know that the wife had a man over. Not sure what she knew. He turned his car around, walked in, and shot
Joe."

I am NOT this poster but this is exactly what I know from the investigation as well. I also have known Joe for a very long time. I also know he was none violent with women. He didn't believe in knives, he had no gun, and he would never enter a home he thought he wasn't supposed to be in. Yes this is how it rolled, and anyone that doesnt know Joe and thinks they know what happened and is casually talking about a case under investigation is aiding in a murder in the eyes of the public opinion. I try to take comfort though it's not much that one day this will be decided by actual facts, and a jury will decide.

I'm team Joe but just curious how his friends know the au pair called the husband.

We may all find out more information shortly. Apparently Dateline NBC is working on this case and the episode is slated for Aug or Sept! I have a family member who works in production at NBC.

Well this proved its more complicated than analyzing blood specs to clear the husband.

Dateline NBC would NEVER take a case that wasn't full of mystery, this is clearly a complicated case. Not one where a man bursts and kills the intruder, but one where the husband kills his wife and her lover, with the help of the Au Pair. Let's face it this case is very open, and will stay that way until the husband is arrested.

good, I sure hope Joe and Christine get justice. This is a clear sign this is a big case that is begging to uncover the real killer, the husband!

this among other reasons is why the case is not closed. The case remains open as the investigation continues. If the evidence showed the husband and au pair in the clear the case would be closed. It is very much open.

Something off with the 13 mins between the first call and 2nd to 911 from the au pair. She obviously knew something was concerning enough to call the first time. What happened I those 13 mins? Clean up, moved bodies, gas lighting?

if someone stabbed your wife and you walked in on it, after you shot the person you claim is stabbing you do not wait 13 minutes to let your wife die, unless you are the killer. It's clear to me that the 13 minute call lapse is one of the most damning pieces of evidence. Clearly it's totally suspect behavior and I believe the husband and the au pair killed both Christine, and Joe.

The au pair who called the police twice? I don't think so. I'm not going to go back through 40 pages, but my recollection is the au pair has spoken to police, but as of the day of the deaths the husband had not. We don't know if he has at this point.

+1.

+2. I find the Joe booster posts a little off, along with the wild, constant, and unsupported speculation that there was a swinging or other sexual relationship going on.

But as long as we are sharing vibes, mine is more along the lines of odd guy that developed an obsession, showed up unwelcome one morning, and the encounter ended violently.

The husband had already left for work. He wasn't there that whole time until he returned and found his wife and Ryan upstairs.

These are all just guesses. None of us have a clue what really happened and we may never find out.

people that do have inside information know that JR did not do any home repair work ever. They also know that the couple were known to JR by a social kink website. That has been established. So the things you are saying make zero sense at all. Read over the forum, this is ridiculous.

Stop blaming the victim for whatever odd reason you have. JR and Christine were both victims here.

It has not been established AT ALL. Obsessive posts on a message board aren't establishing any facts. And the posts that have been reported and removed were fairly unhinged.

This is totally and utterly ridiculous and unbelievable. I don't care if there was a cuckold relationship, but I don't believe for a millisecond that the mother of a little girl, and a woman who seemed to be known for being kind and generous, etc., had her sex partner at her house while her daughter was home, much less the au pair. Nope. No way.
