If it was this innocent, why wouldn’t she just say that? |
Because then you wouldn’t have an exciting show to watch full of innuendos and complex characters. The real reason is she’s piquing harpers interest by saying she can overlook Cameron’s discretions because she has her own things to occupy her. She implies it’s sexual to get harpers attention, but the picture of her kids shows that it’s much less shallow than she makes it seem and there’s situation is what it is for her. |
| That episode was amazing. The Madame Butterfly scene! |
I disagree with this as the clear interpretation because Daphne then says “I’ll find it later” about the pic of her trainer. I do agree with you that the conversation is clearly implying that Daphne understands that her kids are the main thing she gets out of her relationship, but I think if that was all she was saying, she would just say that. She’s been pretty blunt with Harper on this subject and there is no reason for her to be fishy about it now. I think another thing that might be happening is that she showed Harper the pic of the kids to remind Harper that Daphne and Cameron have kids, so maybe don’t try to blow up their marriage (by sleeping with Cameron to make Ethan mad, as it seemed she wanted to) or by telling Ethan to reject Caneron’s investment idea, which maybe they need to remain financially solvent. I also think she was literally talking about her trainer and telling Harper to deal with Ethan’s infidelity by doing it herself. |
It made me think of Pretty Woman. When Gere takes Roberts to the opera and she cries. That plus the Broke Back Mountain reference. I fell in love with a cowboy who didn’t love me back…. This guys are con artists living La vida Dolce. They are definitely setting her up …. |
I think at least the oldest with the big blue eyes is the trainer’s kid. I think she knows her husband is a sociopath and as such provides her with a good life. If she doesn’t want to raise a future sociopath, so she and a kid with the trainer. Plus it’s the ultimate way to get back at her hubs. He’s raising and supporting another man’s child so he’s the ultimate chump. She’s taking back her lower in her own way . |

Power dynamics in the Harper fourple.
Remember Daphne’s comment about women who marry men and then cut off their dicks. And saying she wouldn’t do that to Cameron. But also saying she could if she needed to. Before Harper found out about the condom, Ethan had the power in their relationship. He told stories about her at the table with others that embarrassed her and she had to sit there and take it. Now that she found the condom and Ethan knows, she tells stories about his porn and he has to take it. Ethan and Cameron — Ethan saying maybe Cameron had higher status than he did in college — but not now! And Ethan saying he was always smarter than Cameron. Ethan said some very mean but perceptive things to Cameron at the table — about how Cameron would always go after things/women he, Ethan, wanted. Is he being mean to Cameron because he can’t be mean to Harper? Is Cameron going after Harper because she is Ethan’s? Does Cameron want to be Ethan? Or just to sleep with him? (Talented Mr. Ripley) |
| There are three cons being run: The Gay Grifters on Tanya, Cameron AND Daphne on Ethan, the hookers on Albie. I think the obvious death is Tanya. The question is whether we are being deliberately sent down the wrong path or will there be a twist? I’m expecting a twist. Mike White is a former Survivor who likes the blindside. I love that I can’t figure it out. I always end up guessing the ending but not with these shows. So well done! |
| In the series promo you see Tanya finding a gun and heavy tape that you’d use to tie people’s hands. So I don’t think she gets offed, but finds out about it before it happens. |
I definitely think this is right - the husband worked for the bureau of land management out west somewhere, right? And the leader of the Sinister Gay Cabal said after all these years he would still do anything for him. I think Tanya's husband probably also promised him enough money from his inheritance to restore/maintain the villa indefinitely - hence him asking if Tanya would "die for beauty." I'm wondering if the reason they didn't throw her overboard is because they want to somehow pin her death on Portia? I definitely think Essex boy is supposed to be distracting Portia, but maybe they also plan frame her. He's had plenty of chances to get her DNA
Show is so GOOD this season! |
I think Tanya will make it. I think Portia might die. I think part of the White Lotus ethos is that it all works out for the really rich folks, so Portia taking the hit and Tanya walking away makes more sense. I could see one of Ethan/Harper dying, maybe? And I don't think it's going to work out for Lucia. |
I think it's ambiguous. I read it as her telling Harper that her kids are actually the trainer's. That also makes sense as a throwback to the conversation in an early episode about how they had struggled with infertility - i.e., maybe Cameron is shooting blanks. But it also seemed like she was trying to send Harper some kind of message that the kids are what matters. Maybe both are true? |
Either that, or she’s made the personal trainer up and she’s really staying for her children. They way she said “He’s such a cutie” sounded more like she was talking about a baby. |
Np. My DH immediately said “oh, so they’re the trainer’s children.” I’d missed that likelihood. And I assume the gay men are renting the villa / don’t own it and that’s why we were shown how easy it is to rent one. Somehow that’s part of the con. My DH and I had already assumed the “nephew” was a sex worker and that the parallel was set up in which both Albie and Portia hook up with sex workers without realizing it. |
| Pp here. I’m also interested in the parallelism between the nephew and Mia - both are either bisexual or willing to sleep with either sex. |
