I think it was a "congrats on becoming rich" trip. Maybe Cam and Daphne wanted to invite them before, but didn't because the income disparity would make things weird. |
Depends on how you define bilk. Yes, the trip was most definitely a business expense to orbit and pitch a filthy rich college pal. Rich guys do have to park their money somewhere. For example, it's a safe bet Mark Zuckerberg parks some of his cash with guys he knew from Harvard and the two snapchat billionaire frat boys likely park their money with pals they knew from Stanford. So it's not uncommon and it's not really a scam per se. But it's a hell of a windfall for the connected pals who get the privilege of managing the dough because it generates guaranteed revenue for the pals for as long as they manage the money. It also helps them increase their business because they get to boast about $x assets under management and namedrop the tech zillionaires who trust them to manage their fortunes. |
OK, so that may be a trope - but don't you know any actual human beings? It's just such a weird thing to imagine is accurate about how real people behave. Then again, that applies to about half the posts on DCUM. |
I do know human beings. The trope is a caricature, but it comes from somewhere. Smart people in general are less happy than dumb people because smart people can perceive all of the things that are wrong much more acutely than dumb people. Smart women with a feminist worldview see all of the ways in which the patriarchy is harmful to women. That makes them less happy and more focused on gender injustices. The men who love these women are sensitive to that fact. At the least, they try not to be part of the problem. At times, this will take the form of those men not being as open about their sexual desires or as aggressive in pursuing them. You have a smart woman who is less happy because of gender issues. It stands to reason that she's less interested in sex than if those things weren't the case. You have a guy who isn't pursuing sex as directly or as often. It wouldn't be terribly surprising to find that this couple's sex life is less robust than that of a couple who was blissfully unaware of a lot of what's wrong with the world, particularly with respect to gender issues. |
Are you saying with a straight face that only feminists have dead bedrooms? Because honey |
So sexist on every level. Time do come up from the basement. Mommy is calling you for lunch. |
Such a DC nerd thing to believe Cam or Daphne voted at all. Normal young people don’t waste their time voting. |
Most women, including mothers, have female friends. What world do you live in where they don't? |
There's a pretty sizable gap between "more often" and "only." As you presumably know. |
I’m younger than they are and I vote. |
They’re not young people. They’re in their late 30s. |
You don’t hang out with girlfriends as often. Harper took that hyper literally and ridiculed her for it, which shows how out of touch and immature she is. |
You really think Daphne has literally zero girlfriends? She personifies the rich cliquey outgoing mums who control the private primary schools and travel sports leagues. |
Daphne’s face showed a lot but she also could have been sad that now Ethan is hurt. She snaps out of that fast with a solution. |
Well they’re young as hell relative to people who vote. And Daphne is 32. |
