CCL is the most overrated league with travel that isn't worth it. Most of the teams just suck below U13. |
I'm picturing Kevin Bacon in Animal House -- "everyone says Delta is the best." |

OMEGA! Sorry -- caffeine has not yet kicked in this morning. |
Do you have any actual experience with a your kid playing CCL? Or are you just a hater like 90% of the people on here? 5-10 years ago, where would have been the best place for your kid to play soccer in this area? And don't answer "DA"...the DA accounts for a small percentage of the total number of kids playing travel soccer in this area. For non-DA kids, there are other solid options...and you can play in college without going DA. How many DA players actually play in college all 4 years an actually enjoy it? And then what? Let's be honest, how many of us are raising little Messi's or Hamm's?! Very few!! After college, most of them are done...they get real jobs. So, all that time, stress and money for 4 years of D1 soccer, most of which is probably on the bench. Get real...if your kid wants to play in college and have fun, then the majority of them will play low level D1 schools, D3 or even club (where you have a life during college). It's sad to see the parents squeezing all of the enjoyment out of the kids actually playing soccer! |
You know what's sad. CCL! You know why I say that? Because you make me upset with your point of view. So change it. |

Don't listen to this moron...he probably doesn't even play soccer or have a kid in the game. Who says that kind of thing? "So change it" - It's laughable!! I don't get why he keeps saying CCL sucks without providing an alternative. OK we get it DA is where the top players play but outside of that what's best. From the remaining leagues of CCL, VPL, and NCSL, CCL seems to be the best option with VPL close by. The clubs in it are putting their top 1 and 2 teams there so that means that NCSL is getting teams 3 and 4. Yes there are good clubs in NCSL with their top teams in there but it seems that CCL and VPL outside of DA are getting the club's top teams. All 3 require long drives but that is part of playing travel soccer in this area. |

NCSL Div 1 used to be one of the best places to be (besides CCL or DA)...now with VPL, EDP, etc...there are more options. Each league will get a bit diluted as teams spread out. 5 years ago, the best players on men's HS teams in this area played for CCL clubs. |

Another item, not every team that is in CCL would be in NCSL, so that means there are teams in Div 1 or 2 in NCSL that are the top teams for their club in the respective age group. Keep in mind the idea behind CCL is that teams choose "Development" over winning games. IF that were the case, then why do you need to travel fAR to see if a new formation works or if a FWD can play in the back. |

The CCL 1 games can be quite competitive and they do try to win games - not sure why you think they aren't trying to win. Travel for CCL is Va Beach, Williamsburg, Roanoke, Charlottesville and Richmond. That's 5 potential away games a year...but, half of those are home. So you may only travel 2-3 times a year for those games. It's really not that bad, they can all be done in one day. CCL 2 is definitely more developmental, but they don't play the southern VA teams, so travel not an issue. |
DC has been on CCL teams several years in the past at younger ages. Even child got bored playing the same bad teams over and over. Other DC is in NCSL and faces new teams all the time. CCL is overrated by anyone who has been in it recently. |

If the argument against CCL is traveling to play far away, then stick with NCSL. It really depends on what fits your kid and family best. |
I see your point on playing same teams...that can be a downside, but once you reach Div 1-2 NCSL, you'll play most of the same teams all the time anyway. And when you add in tournaments, you'll continue seeing same teams unless you travel out of state. But saying CCL is overrated is not a fair assessment. It works quite well for the players that are suited for that type of league. It's not for everyone. I've had kids in ODSL, NCSL, WAGS and CCL...I personally think the best competition we've had is in CCL. |
^^^ besides tournaments and Region 1 play, of course. (adding to above statement) |
