I'm not the club, but this IS how it is done. This isn't high school where the roster is posted on the coaches door. There is no good way to find out you didn't make a team. And offers are only half of the equation. Until ALL offers are accepted the process is not over. Hell, coaches don't even know what the roster is only what they hope it is. |
Here's one approach: https://bsbproduction.s3.amazonaws.com/portals/5977/docs/2016-17%20tryouts/team%20rosters/boys%202002%20rosters.pdf I did receive a notice from a technical director telling me there was no space for my kid on the team, and it went on to list the ways he was "impotent." He wasn't a TD very long. But in general -- seriously, tell people where they stand. That's how adults handle things in the real world. You're not providing some life lesson by refusing to tell a kid whether he or she "got the job." |
Or just ask where your kid stands, but if two weeks have gone by since the last tryout, c'mon, don't be dense. And, until everyone accepts it is truly not over. Do you really want to be told that your spot is dependent upon Mia's accepting or not? The problem here isn't the process but the expectation of entitled "A Team" parents who are now facing for the first time what it is like when you do not make the early cut. |
VDA sent out both type letters and answered all questions. So, it can be done in a professional manner. I respect that! |
That is great that they do that but sending out letters AFTER kids on the team have accepted will not stop the gossip or kids finding out from their teammates. There is just simply no way around it and kids honestly know at tryouts whether they made it or not. The hard part are the bubble kids knowing because they are waiting on various scenarios to fall in place and no letter will change that.
It is always best to be informed one way or the other but in all honesty you already know the answer. It doesn't take two weeks to ask a kid to play if they are really highly ranked at all. And if you are waiting on news from a club in order to "move on" well you are doing it wrong. You don't have a spot on a team until you have a spot on the team. If club A offers a position and you haven't yet heard from club B and you'd like to be at club B then getting in touch with them stating "you have an offer but would choose club B where does my kid stand?" is all that needs to be done. I don't really disagree with you over simply being informed but by the time the rejection letter actually comes you already knew it anyways. |
You may never have been there, but arlington soccer puts out on its website all the rosters of every age group after tryouts, including boys DA. It is very helpful to all. |
Got it, great at U9-U12. But if your kid is not DA/ECNL at U13 and above, what do you consider the next best thing? I would think CCL would be above NCSL and VPL. |
It's hard to say without knowing the level of the player. Imo. |
If your kid isn't DA or ECNL then just worry about where your kid is happiest. In the high school years and if playing in college is a goal she will need to be on a team that will showcase well and that can be a team in either of the mentioned leagues. |
^^
I also meant to add, where the best coaching and training is as well. The point is the league will not matter only what is the best situation for your kid. And that applies to DA or ECNL as well. |
Good to know that VDA letters of both types went out . . . because my kid (who several VDA callbacks and positive reinforcement from the coaches on the field) received neither. Guess it's time to start asking! |
You should. They are very responsive. Unlike FCV |
I think the USMNT sucks...thats what I think. Besides Bobby, Dempsey and Pul, they should all go kick rocks and pound sand |
Exactly ! they all probably played in CCL growing up, what do you expect ! |
