Not really. First, it's probably more than half of the ECNL team that's looking for a new team since a few of the DA spots
will be taken by players outside of the FCV. So if FCV double rosters two or three players now, which is what I've seen in the past, you only need three or four (out of 11+) to move down to the NPL team for that team to be stronger.

#s remaining show up when you register for ID session at WS website.

That's sucks..because there were atleast 5-6 talented 04's that showed up yesterday.

As kids accept offers fewer and fewer kids register. Low registration at this stage doesn't mean low interest, it could simply mean roster spots are filled.

That argument might make sense if there were no consistent disparity between the 14s and all the older ages.

Not really, U13 and U14 is kind of a washout year with kids. This is the age when about half the kids quit the sport all together and play other sports or have differing priorities. By U15 and up, the really good players are pretty well known and there are fewer diamonds in the rough left. But with the combined age groups and FCV moving from ECNL to DA there are a lot of displaced kids. My guess is Spirit or VDA might actually have those older age groups pretty locked up with FCV kids by now. Purely speculation but if there is anyone out that could shed some light it might clear up the registration disparity.

But, I think it is safe to say that interest at the 04 age group is pretty intense right now.

From what I'm hearing.....someone please correct me if I have bad info.

The 04 age group is competitive at Spirit because two of the top U13 teams in the state (FCV ENCL 04 / Loudoun 04g Red / Several FCV ECNL 03 play ups) have combined. That's over 40 good players. FCV can not accommodate all that talent, therefore there is a spill over of kids looking for a new home (because the majority of them will not stay and play NPL or CCL). Spirit has become that option. I suspect that age group will be decent.

This is a little bit simplified but not that far off base. It is not as if other clubs don't have talent that would consider throwing their hat in the ring so to speak. But it is likely that a bulk of kids will be from Loudoun and FCV.

How was the Icebreaker, everyone else?

Oh, and BTW. If you want to know how icebreaker went go look at the standings on the website. We are on here talking about variables...what ifs...scenarios..not completed tournaments that anyone with internet can look up.

There's a lot more to a tournament than results. Any psycho parents? Reffing atrocities? Teams that play with a nice style?

(Geez -- I've never seen so many U9 parents yelling "scoreboard." Some really misguided people around here.)

So why would we want to talk about that here? It is stupid behavior that always has been and always will be. Everyone agrees it is bad but at some point everyone here has let emotion get the better of them at one point or another.

Not OP bt we would like to talk about it here because it's something other that f-ing Washington Spirit crap. How many times can you people write the same shit! It's been going on forever. Change the subject already.

You can always start a thread called :"Soccer no one cares about" and fill it with useless topics such "Parents...who needs them" or "U9..the art of the beautiful game"

Ugh, you again, you are CCL guy, I already know it

Nope, again not me.

Why does CCL have teams like Roanoke and VA Beach. We shouldn't have to drive that far. ...Can we please discuss this again...PLEASE!!!!!

But CCL is such a great league for U littles . . . it is soooooo wonderful, I just can't get enough of it. really great league if you are U9 to U12. that's what it is I tell you. i daydream about how great it is . . .

Nope. Kids at FCV were told they made the roster and that's it. They don't know who their teammates are. Due to this, many kids walked around asking "Did you make it". But the kids who didn't make it didn't get any notice either way. They were left to figure it out on their own.

WRONG. Thats how Morons run tryouts. Tell the kids if they didn't make it so they can move on and make other decesions.

If you didn't get offered the job you didn't get the job.

This is not hard. Regardless, I've never been at a club where the roster was common knowledge. The girls or parents always work the wires to find out who is and who isn't on the team.

I'm not convinced VPL is better than NCSL D1 or D2 at all.

Granted, I did just see one bit of anecdotal evidence -- a VPL team (a PWSI team, playing at home) finished third in a four-team group behind two NCSL D2 teams. And I know I can't extrapolate too much from that. But generally speaking, I don't see any evidence that VPL teams are ahead of the top NCSL teams or most EDP teams.

If CCL wants to remain relevant with the DA and ECNL coming in, they should probably try to take the top half of VPL.

(Of course, I'm the guy who points out that a lot of parents spend 1-2 years making trips for league games to Richmond and mandatory tournaments all over creation, then burn out along with their kids. I'm seeing it now. Expect a lot of turnover as clubs move up to leagues that force longer and longer trips -- NCSL might get a big influx of talent!

Re DA rosters, on the boys' side they don't post rosters on the DA websites until after the playoffs for the U14s-U18s are over in July. Most clubs don't post rosters separately, and if they do, they wait until the official rosters are out. Don't know if they'll do something different for the girls since it's the inaugural season.

Spoken like a grade A dbag.

Have a heart man. Don't let the kids find out they didn't make the team from their teammates at practice.
