The bad part is that he changed planes somewhere in the US and took public transportation to get to his house from SEATAC. So it really depends on when the virus is contagious.

The good news is that we have a President who will slam doors, unlike with Obama/Ebola.

The Ebola panic was the zeitgeist. It wasn't rational or warranted, as we see in hindsight m. Obama handled it properly.

The Ebola panic was created by rightwing propaganda media to hurt Democrats in the midterm elections that were happening.

There was just a much bigger Ebola outbreak than in 2014, but since Fox didn’t hype it to help Republicans, it didn’t get covered:

Someone always has to politicize everything. Tinfoil nonsense.

A very up to date, comprehensive overview of the situation as it stands now from the NYT.

Special thanks to NYT for not putting this behind a paywall.

The CDC is at George Mason University today A Chinese student may have it. Students returned on Jan. 14. Incubation we now know is 10-14 days, so today would be a possibility. A notice was sent to all students

I'm sure it was just a nasty anti-Trumper comment.

I'm more scared of gun violence in this very violent country than this virus.

Do we know this?

We are pretty sure a number of people have. Viruses like this present with a spectrum of severity. There likely have been many mild cases in China that people recovered from, thinking they were just the common cold. They were not tested so we do not know for sure.

I have not seen anything on survival rate once it progresses to pneumonia, the point at which most people would likely first contact their doctor. It's too early to tell.

Pretty sure is not the same as solid data. It is weird that nobody is posting any numbers of people who got well,
one would think it would be something to brag about right?

Lancet analyzed the first 41 cases:

6 died (death rate for sample = 15%)

5 (presumably survivors) developed acute cardiac injury

4 (presumably survivors) required mechanical ventilation (altogether a third of patients required this; likely includes those who died)

I am not sure this tells us about survival rates etc - all 41 were admitted to hospital. Presumably those without symptoms or without significant symptoms might not have been admitted?
